Okay, now that I have your attention, this has nothing to do with that. Get your head out of the gutter! This actually has to do with the nightstand next to my bed.
Since it’s the first thing I see in the morning and the last thing I see at night, I thought it was high time I gave it a little attention. Just some straightening up, no money involved. And I did it all during the kids’ naptime. (Plus, I finally got to bust out one of my Christmas gifts from the Handy Hubby.)
On any given day, you can find my current book-reads, magazines, hair ties, bobby pins, earrings (that I forget to take out until I’m already in bed), ink pens, a notepad, a baby monitor and an IKEA lamp on my nightstand. I wanted all of these items to stay within arm’s reach of the bed but maybe not look so messy. Organization and style, gotta love it. After just a few minutes of searching the house (i.e. the unfinished basement that stores all the stuff we don’t use), I found a couple of containers to house my bedside must-haves. In a wink, my nightstand went from messy to neat.
The baby monitor went here…
The hair ties and bobby pins went here…
The earrings (and other pieces of my most-worn jewelry) went here… **Thanks Handy Hubby for such a great gift!**
The ink pens and notepad went here…
The books and magazines got piled up here…
Now, I can rest easy. And, seriously, it took me longer to take these pictures and write this post than to tidy-up my nightstand.
What about you? What are some of your bedside necessities? A glass of water? Reading glasses? A microwave to warm your neckroll? (Yep, I know someone who does this!) Handy Hubby has sleep apnea, so a C-PAP machine resides on his nightstand. Whatever you need, make it accessible… and make it neat. Sleeping and waking just may come more easily.
