Mindy - Can't wait to see it all dolled up! I was scared after my first swipe of chalkboard paint...scary, shiny purple-black! It was soooo worth it though.

I just had to share my chalk board message board with you....you inspired it in a way. I started thinking outside the box about creating a message area. With the way my house is designed it was hard to find a good wall space. I may still paint our mudroom door with chalk board paint though! Anyway, a friend gave me a beautiful dresser with antique mirror. I decided to separate the 2 pieces. The mirror is now a beautiful message center in my kitchen! I love it! A great way to repurpose a beautiful old mirror!
Here is the link to my blog post!

Jennifer - Our chalkboard pantry door is great! We use the door itself at least 6 times {usually many, many more times} daily for grabbing food for meals and snacks. It has held up well...no scratches or paint chipping. {Just be sure to use primer first!} I will say that words/drawings placed lower on the door get smudged easily because of the kids and their wandering hands. So, we {adults} just write up higher and let the kids take care of the bottom half of the door. Everybody's happy. I do not have a chalk free-for-all. Instead, we have a special chalk drawer and only at certain times do we bring out the chalk. This keeps dust to a minimum and, to be completely honest, I don't notice any extra dust than normal. {And I notice just about everything!} It helps to wipe down the door with a damp rag to erase versus using a standard chalk eraser. I think the door to your garage would be ideal for some chalkboard paint! You could write reminders for a last minute quick-checklist and messages to those who enter/exit. Let me know how it goes!

I just came across your blog post in my search to decide if I should paint my 6 panel door that exits to the garage in chalk board paint. I am glad to see someone else has tried it. It is a door we enter and exit through all the time and needs to be painted. So, my question for you....how is it working out? Would I regret the chalk dust? Love your blog!

[...] This week’s feature room is my pantry. For a ‘room’, it’s small; for a pantry, it’s big. At least, to me. It’s right off the dining area and can be entered through this chalkboard door that I painted here. [...]
