...because home doesn't happen overnight.

Last winter we painted our builder oak cabinets white.

AFTER

Since then, we’ve gradually tackled other kitchen improvements:  added cabinet hardware, had granite countertops installed along with a new sink and faucet, DIY’d a glass-front cabinet and (just recently) put up a tile backsplash.  It’s really coming along and I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.  I should.  After all, it’s been nearly a year since we first started updating our kitchen!

There are a few minor projects left to finish (handmade window treatment, painting the inside of the glass-front cabinet, extending the island and adding a butcher block countertop to the island) but I thought I’d tease you with a few ‘in progress’ snapshots to keep you on the edge of your seats.

The only bad thing about accomplishing these projects is that it takes time away from blogging.  I am NOT Superwoman.  So, rest assured, that while I may not be posting a lot right now I am working on stuff that will make its way into future posts!

nice shots of the backsplash/faucet (with the new camera?)

how wide is your fridge, if you don’t mind me asking? I’d love to have one that has water/ice in the door, but I’m not sure our space is wide enough…

doing sometimes gets in the way of blogging (or vice versa), but I like how blogging helps keep me more or less on track with projects that might otherwise never get finished :)

I know that this is a small detail, but it caught my eye and I can’t get it out of my head. I love the use of the round towel ring on the cabinet to the side of your sink. We have a setup like your cabinets flanking the sink– and I was contemplating installing a hook there for our dishtowels, but that ring looks so chic and functional! Thank you for the inspiration! Everything looks marvelous and I can’t wait to see what other projects you’ve been working on. :)

(and Carole, I’m the same way– blogging helps keep me on track so I don’t have 452 projects left unfinished!)

Carole – Our fridge is 36″ wide. And, yes, the faucet/backsplash shots are with the *new* camera. Good eye!

Eva – I actually ‘stole’ the towel ring idea from some friends of ours who did the same thing in their kitchen. It’s ingenious!

I really love the countertop you picked out, it’s lovely and looks magnificent with the white cabinets!

What color/brand of paint did you use on your cabinets? They look great!
