...because home doesn't happen overnight.

Why, hello there lil’ 99¢ Goodwill mini tree.

I’d like you to meet my bff, white spray paint.

Now, hold still.  This will only take a second.

Ah, much better.

‘Tis the fate of so many Goodwill purchases here at my house.  Happy weekend!

How do other people find such cute things at thrift stores? It looks great!

When I warned my husband about spray paint fumes in the garage the other day, he assumed I had painted something white… but for the first time, he guessed wrong. It was silver. :) Oh, and it was fast-drying spray paint. I’ll never again buy anything else. I had to paint one side of the item and then turn it over to do the other side, and the whole project was finished in an hour. Loved it!

I love what you did with the tree, it looks great, especially with the pearl necklace around it. I found your blog a few weeks ago from Apartment Therapy and really enjoy reading and seeing what you have done. Your home is gorgeous! The color gray has become my new favorite so it’s really inspiring to me.

Love the tablescape. Me love white decor. I keep buying new pieces. :D

Couple of questions: Where did you get the tall silver things in the vases? And what are the tall silver things anyway? lol! Where did you get the white with silver vases? Gorgeous!!!

And I have the same Domino book…..love it.

Since I have joined the “blog world” I have learned to LOVE spray paint. White, black, sliver, metallic, blue… love ’em all!!! It is unbelievable how paint can TOTALLY change the loooks of things. I have to be honest here… I would probably have passed up that little tree. However, after seeing what you did with it I almost wish I could find one just like it!! Love your whole tablescape. Thanks for sharing!

Jen – The tall silver thingeys are from JoAnn’s {after Christmas sale last year} and they’ve got stems at the bottom. I’m not exactly sure what they are – gilittered covered branches? I think they were meant to be shoved into a Christmas tree but I plopped ’em into 2 vases. The vases were a total steal from TJMaxx a few years back. One was broken and had the white bowl part detached from the silver base. I asked if I could get it for free if I bought the other one at the price listed on the tag. The manager said “yes!” It never hurts to ask!!! I just glued the broken one together when I got it home…problem solved.

Oh, that is adorable!

You just have get a vision while wandering down the aisles in a thrift store yes? Some people just can’t see it. I get crap from my hubbins all the time, but voila! Lovely things eventually. Or things that make sense when I’m done. Ha!

I am very envious of that little tree.

I saw this same tree today for $3.50 at the salvation army!! It was even missing some of those bead things.

Thanks Dana, for your reply. I’ll have to look around to find something similar. Love the look. And that is awesome that you were able to get one of thos vases for free and just pay for one. Definitely doesn’t hurt to ask and why not. ;-) ~Jen
