03.22.13 / Adormable

After I wrote this post about using 3M adhesive strips to hang frames in the mudroom/dining room, I received these instagram pics from a reader.

adormableThat, my friends, is a dorm room. Let me repeat myself…a dorm room…as in dormitory. Can you even believe it?! Denise hung an eclectic gallery of frames using 3M adhesive strips on the block walls of her daughter’s dorm room to create a homey atmosphere. By far, it is the most adorable dorm room I have ever laid eyes on. Do you spy the stickygram door?

I’m coining a new word. Adormable. And this room is the epitome of it.

So there is something to look forward to when my babygirl goes off to college. She’ll be there before I know it. You guys, she turns 1 in a week. HOW CAN THIS BE?!

P.S. – Five things I’m doing in anticipation of spring.

Oh my gosh that is so a BYU dorm room isn’t it? I know because I LIVED in those dorms and NEVER saw one look this cute! What a great momma!

So yeah. My dorm rooms did not resemble this even a little bit. I think there was a tapestry involved, maybe a rice cooker and ripped poster with thumb tack. Nice work, Denise. My kids will need a dorm room in 14 years… can I call you?!

LOL! I used tape to hang a gallery wall in my college dorm room too! I took decorating it VERY seriously. No wonder I turned out to be a home blogger. Totally picked the wrong major in college.

Unbelievable! Adormable it is! Somehow the contact-paper-over-metal-dresser decorating my roomie and I did years ago does not measure up! (And I’m with Kelly, that looks suspiciously like a BYU dorm room- if so, I’m certain one has never looked this good!) Way to go, Denise!

This totally is a BYU dorm room. I thought it was as soon as I saw the picture and then I noticed the Y on one of the bears. What a nice mom!

Erin and Kelly…you are right. BYU Heleman Hall. Thanks everyone for the nice comments. I think I used the decorating as a way to try and ease the sadness of my first born leaving us haha.

So why would a mother decorate her daughter’s dorm room? The girl is in college and can do it herself.

I had those exact same block walls in my dorm room. I wish we had those 3M strips back then!

OK… I will try it. I didn’t believe that the adhesive would work over a long period of time… I am more of a nail in the stud or molly bolts kind of gal. BUT that tears up my walls so badly. Thanks for showing us a different way.

So cute! And what a creative mom, On the other side of that room I am sure there is a sad, blank wall and a very jealous roommate. LOL.

VERY Adormable! :)

Never tried 3M hooks until you showed how your pictures are hung up. Now I have them in the kitchen for hot mitts and in one of the bathrooms of my apartment for towels (No towel bars here, unfortunately). So far so good. Thanks!

This was Denise’s daughter’s first year away at college. They worked on the room together this past summer before saying their goodbyes. By the looks of things, I’m guessing Denise’s daughter welcomed her help. The thought of possibly helping my daughter create a cozy and unique dorm room someday waaaaaay in the future brings tears to my eyes.

My dorm room looked nothing like this. The frames and baskets are genius!

One thing I did do in my dorm, which had the same exact window/bed placement, was buy a cheap tension curtain rod from Walmart and hung curtains from it on the inside of the window. It was really inexpensive and made the room so much more homey!

That looks a lot like my BYU dorm room from a few years ago except with awesome decor! Go Cougs!

My dorm room did not look like that! What a cute and cozy little room!

I like the way this room turned out but my daughter will never approve of me decorating her room! She will really freak out if I did this sort of thing! I would do this for my baby’s room though.

My daughter’s college roommate’s mother came in and decorated their entireroom. I felt it was another example of helicopter parenting. Let go woman!
