spring morning

It’s spring (!) which means the morning light in my bedroom turns from cool to warm in a matter of minutes. I love witnessing the transformation. I’m like a plant following the sun around my house throughout the day. Are you the same?

A few more things that have me smiling…

Building houses with a giant 3D printer. Those Dutch folks are always one step ahead.

All kinds of good stuff happening in this eclectic modern home.

Playing house.

Prefab homes are becoming more accessible and more affordable.

We have no plans to add on to our home but Steve has mentioned building a separate modern outbuilding. I wouldn’t mind something like this. (Be sure to check out the custom shelving which incorporates a horizontal window and clean-up sink.)

A magnetic sink rail answers the question “where to hang the dishcloth in a single basin kitchen sink?”

The premier of American Dream Builders airs this Sunday. Will you be watching? They had me at “Nate Berkus” and “Erinn Valencich.” (If you have a half-hour to kill, watch this interview with the can-do-no-wrong Nate to learn more.)

spring morning 2

Do yourself a favor and carve out time this weekend to do / make / eat / drink / see something that makes you smile! We’ll be laying tile in the kids’ bathroom. Eeeeek!!

Have you told us about that cool art behind you? Did I miss it? If not, can you tell us more? Love it.

The art was a VERY controversial DIY. See it here…

Loved all your picks today. That dish rag holder was awesome and I had to pin those pre-fabbed houses. We once finished a semi pre-fabbed house, but it was a totally different style, but what a fun five months of building :)
We are installing our new cabinets in our master bath remodel this weekend.

Love that garden workspace, glad the new show doesn’t compete with “Masterpiece Theatre,” and you guys will do just fine with that classy dark tile. (Good luck; take breaks!) Can’t wait to see what evolves with the tub.

LOVE the instagram photo of Mabrey playing house – so beautiful, the photo and your daughter. Hope you frame it and find somewhere for it to live!

Hey Dana,
I currently live in a home with no real “guest” space – wondering how you accommodate overnight guests in your home?
Painting and gardening for us this weekend – can’t wait!
Looking forward to next week’s bathroom updates! Wait, that just sounds weird…
Happy tiling!

Thanks so much for posting about that magnetic sink rail! I was just thinking I need something sleeker and better looking than those little baskets with the suction cups. I love this option so much better!

This weekend I’ll be painting trim and cabinets for our kitchen reno/refresh. A brighter, fresher kitchen will certainly make me smile. Wish me luck!

Love the art work. What paint color you used your for the walls? I brought charcoal grey sofa i think that color would look nice.

Just bought the same tile for my bathroom reno. Can’t wait to see how it looks in your place first, if you guys use the enhancer sealer, and what grout color you choose! Looking forward to seeing the long awaited bathroom come together with the vintage tub!
