...because home doesn't happen overnight.

A little bit of life got in the way this week.  So it goes!  Instead of the regularly programmed Feature Friday, I’m announcing the winning phrase that will be displayed in our entryway.  Envelope please.  And the winner is…

You make me happy when skies are gray.

Thanks to everyone who rocked their vote.  This was House*Tweaking’s first election of sorts, and I had a lot of fun learning how to do it.  (Maybe next time I’ll get rid of the neon green voting box.)  I’m itching to start the custom art piece now that I’ve got a meaningful phrase.  Not only does it mean something to me and my family, but maybe you’ll feel like you had a part in it, too.  (Sorry, if it’s not the phrase you voted for.  But majority rules…without any of that messy electoral vote mumbo-jumbo.)  Don’t worry.  I’ll be posting pics of the final product as soon as it’s finished.

In other news, my DIY kitchen island upgrade was featured on Home Construction Improvement today.  (It’s been a busy week of P.R. around here!)  Todd Fratzel is an engineer who specializes in custom home construction, commercial design-build projects and subdivisions…AND just happens to author a home improvement blog.  Needless to say, I was flattered when he asked me to write a guest post about one of my own DIY projects.  Thanks Todd!

Finally, I *think* my PC problem has been resolved.  I read every single one of your comments/suggestions submitted to my cry for help concerning our very old and viral PC.  I really appreciated all the input.  In the end, we bit the bullet and bought a MacBook Pro.  We’ve only had it for 3 days, but I’m totally in love.  It probably helps that I wasn’t a Windows expert to begin with, so learning my way around on a Mac isn’t really too different from what I was doing before!  I’m looking at it as a long-term investment…which means House*Tweaking is here to stay.  So far, I’ve really enjoyed writing, blogging and editing photos at my own convenience on a very quick laptop.  Hopefully, things will just get better from here.

Yay! That’s the one I voted for. Can’t wait to see the finished product :)
