...because home doesn't happen overnight.

Holly Becker over at decor8 is hosting a virtual Stripe Mania blogger party.  Basically, you just take a picture of yourself wearing something stripey and link to it on Twitter.  Holly is compiling all the photos onto a designated Pinterest board with links to each participant’s blog.  Sounds like fun, huh?  You know me.  I’m a big fan of stripes.

I painted wide horizontal ones on the TV wall in our family room.

I turned canvas drop cloths into stripey curtain panels for my boys’ room.

And one of my favorite pillow covers has raspberry stripes.

So how could I not participate in Stripe Mania?!

Did you use a tripod? Or mini photographers in training? ; )

I’m a big fan of stripes too. In fact, my bedroom looks an awful lot like your family room. Take a peek!

Rosa – I kiiiiind of used a tripod. We have a tripod for our old video camera that my digital camera doesn’t attach to properly but I precariously rested my camera on the tripod as last resort. I wouldn’t recommend it. One small movement and it would have come crashing down. A tripod is now on my shopping list.

love the drop cloth idea on the boys curtains… i have all boys at my house!

I love the raspberry (red) shoe showing up just a tiny bit, perfectly flowing the color around the picture. Looks great!

On another topic, I’d LOVE to know how you stay in shape? And be HONEST!
heheh, Love your ideas and projects! Wish you the best with your new home, too. Gabrielle.

Love stripes! I just got striped pillow covers from IKEA for my bed.

Also, love your white skinny jeans! Wish I could pull them off as well as you do:)

Love the curtains they rule as well as your cute stripey photo! I was wondering if you will leave a link for a tour of your current house when it sells….because its totally inspiring! I’d hate to see all of your hard work and great projects hidden in archives somewhere! (Not that the underdog wont be just as awesome!)

I don’t think I have any stripes in my home OR my wardrobe, but I may need to change that… :)

Can you tell me where is the raspberry striped pillow cover is from? I LOVE it!!

Skinny minnie!
I love that raspberry striped pillow too! Everything in your home is so crisp and refreshing. I’m excited to see what you do with the new house/blank slate. :)

Megan – It’s a discontinued West Elm pillow cover. I found it at a Pottery Barn Outlet for cheap!

Random question: did you make that white bench in the picture? And is that a wooden white drawer in the left opening? This looks like something I could use at the end of our bed to sit and put shoes on and store extra blankets. Thanks:)

Angie – The white bench was a thrift store find for $40. It was an orange-y wood, so I sanded, primed and painted it. There are two drawers on the ends that open up for storage. I put a little fabric bin in the open space in the middle. It’s a great spot for kids and guests to take off/put on shoes.

Hi,

I love that other pillow next to the red stripe pillow. Can you tell me where you got that pillow?

Thanks!
Lily

Lily – The quatrefoil-like printed pillow cover is from Etsy. Surprise, surprise. The seller is Nenavon and although I don’t see the exact cover available now, there are tons of other fab covers that could work just as well for you. I’ve bought from Nenavon more than once and have never been disappointed! Here’s a link to the Etsy shop…
