10.09.11 / Bump in the Road

Surprise!

We’ve hit a small {baby} bump on the road to renovation.

Handy Hubby and I are unexpectedly expecting baby #3!

I couldn’t put more emphasis on the ‘unexpected’ part of that news.  As in, we were actively trying not to get prego.  I guess we weren’t trying hard enough.

I think my father-in-law explained what happened best when he said, “Tell god your plans and watch him laugh.”

Obviously, there is a larger plan for us.  It includes a smaller house and a larger family.  And while we’re still warming up to the idea of another baby, we’re up for the challenge.  This baby is unexpected but not unwanted.

Things just got verrrrrry interesting over here, didn’t they?!  And because I know any baby news always comes with tons of questions, feel free to leave your curious inquiries in the comments section below and I’ll post a special Q & A write-up on Friday.

What a way to start the week, huh?

FYI – Contrary to popular belief, that is not a can of Copenhagen in my front pocket.  I gave that up when I found out I was prego ;)  It’s my camera lens cover.

09.October.2011

Congratulations!! Your smaller house will feel just a bit cozier now.

09.October.2011

I can not tell you how excited I was to read this post!!! My Husband and I are awaiting our unexpected but totally wanted #3. 37 weeks pregnant with our second sweet boy, but third beautiful child!!! Luckily for us, my Mom was ecstatic that we had a surprise and that helped me get over the shock. Please keep up with the blogging because I am an avid follower, but hardly ever comment! Your house is going to be so great with another set of pitter patter’s!

09.October.2011

Leah – Thanks for your comment! I feel better knowing I’m not the only one!

09.October.2011

Congratulations! Where is this new little one going to bunk in the new house? When are you due?

I agree with the previous commenter, I’ve never posted before but I wanted to say that you are one of the first blogs I look for in my reader feed!!

WooHoo! Congratulations. Life will throw curveballs won’t it? Well, of course we want to know when you’re due! You look great and those pictures are amazing too!

09.October.2011

09.October.2011

AWESOME NEWS!!! You look fantastic, by the way. I am also awaiting our 3rd child (boy #3!), due Nov. 19th. I’m amazed that you have 2 kids…. 1 on the way….and are able to be so productive. I wish I could steal your secret!!! LOL

09.October.2011

Yay!!!!!! Congratulations! :)

09.October.2011

I found out I was unexpectedly expecting #3 just 2 wks after my husband left fir a year in Iraq. Since my others were only 2 and 9 months, I was…stressed? in shock? in denial? It was an adventure, to say the least. I am now the wonderfully overwhelmed & blessed mommy to 3 beautiful girls (3 yrs, 20 mos, 4 mos) and wouldn’t trade it for anything.
P.S. God has laughed at my plans maaaaany times ;)

09.October.2011

Oh, and I can’t help but say– I’m STILL in shock that we’re having baby #3!! I kid you not. Totally happy about it, but just like you all, totally unexpected. LOL I don’t think the shock will wear off until I am getting up 3 times per night to nurse. ;-)

09.October.2011

Congrats!! You look gorgeous! Are you finding out the sex? When are you due (you can be vague)?

09.October.2011

You either weren’t showing or I wasn’t paying any attention when I saw you a few months ago that the vendor show!!! Congratulations! You look beautiful as always :-)

09.October.2011

Congrats! My sister in law and my brother recently found out they were expecting their 2nd but by surprise. It took them 2 years to get pregnant for their daughter and she’s only 11 months old now and they’re expecting in April. Oops! But we’re all excited, they only have a 2 bedroom so they will need to work on something there. I can’t wait to see what you come up with! I’m putting my guess in now…girl!

09.October.2011

You look amazing…all bump! You’re already so pretty and now you’re just stunning :) When are you due? Will you find out the sex? I can’t wait to see how you do the nursery.

I can imagine that adjusting to an unexpected pregnancy would throw one for a loop, but like you said, there is a plan. You guys are going to have a blast! Congrats!

09.October.2011

Congratulations! I love your blog and I am so happy to hear your news. Also curious to hear how you handle it all, you are one impressive woman!

09.October.2011

You sure make an adorable prego lady! ;) Congrats on the unexpected little bit of wonderful coming your way.

09.October.2011

Congrats!! Very exciting! What a little blessing.

09.October.2011

so wonderful! many congrats to you!

09.October.2011

Super big congrats!!! What exciting news! We just had our 3rd baby and we live in a very small cape cod in eastern PA. It works because we make it work. We’ve been trying to do a reno because we only have 1 bathroom and no garage but we keep running into zoning issues with our township. But I keep reminding myself of something you said when you started out on your underdog adventure…something to the effect of…’we’re not looking for our dream home but a home in which we can pursue our dreams.’ This is a philosophy I need to adopt and you’ve been an inspiration in doing that. Your house IS big enough for all 5 of you, and like a previous commenter stated, it will be all the cozier. Wishing you all the best. And by the way, I am SO impressed that you’ve been keeping up on your amazing blog while being pregnant! (and we’re all so grateful :)

09.October.2011

Congratulations!

09.October.2011

Congratulations! I just had my first and I love motherhood! It will be wonderful!

09.October.2011

Congratulations!

09.October.2011

your bump in the road could not be cuter ♥

09.October.2011

Congrats, Dana! What wonderful news! When are you due?

Aww congrats!! Best wishes to the entire family!

09.October.2011

Congrats! I will be the first to ask the questions! Do you know if its a boy or girl yet? When is it due? How excited are the big brothers?

09.October.2011

My niece also recently learned (more recently than you, it appears :)) that she’s prego with #3. Totally unexpected and unplanned. After my niece got over the initial shock (and took 4 at home prego tests to just make sure), they’re both very happy.

09.October.2011

I love your father-in-law’s saying, it is SO true. I had a 6 month old when we found out about our surprise baby #3. I spent an entire evening on the sofa crying thinking WTH. we were done, really done, like husband getting fixed in a few weeks done and I had just settled into a routine with my baby who i must mention had the most horrible newborn 3 months of colic and reflux which turned into us cosleeping. plus i was only back at work 3 months and here i had to tell them i was going to be doing it all again. Well, thankfully i had 9 months to prepare myself and it turned out to all work itself out and it gave me the opportunity to do what i’ve always wanted to do, work from home. Now I have a 4 and a 5 year old who are inseparable (oh and a 16yr old) and everytime my youngest makes me laugh or looks at me with her big brown eyes I know exactly why she came into our lives because i can’t imagine my life without her (and she turned out to be the best sleeper and easiest baby). i truly believe everything happens for a reason. Congrats!

09.October.2011

Oh my goodness! I just started reading your blog about a month ago and was seriously impressed with all you had going on, and now to find out you were doing it all pregnant- you must be super woman! :0) Congratulations! I have always loved the quote about God laughing as we plan, so, so true!

09.October.2011

BTW, since you’re open to questions, did you know about this baby when you closed on Underdog? Methinks maybe …

09.October.2011

Soo excited for you guys!!! Congrats!!!

09.October.2011

You are so adorable! I wish that I would have taken more pictures of me while pregnant. (I also wish that I looked as beautiful and cute as you do to!) Congratulations!

You are too funny! I had to look hard to see the lens cap!

09.October.2011

CONGRATS!

questions:
1. how far along/when are you due?
2. do you know what you’re having/are you going to find out?
3. are you putting the boys together and making one of their rooms a nursery? or putting on an addition? or some other plan?
4. are the boys excited about a little brother/sister?

10.October.2011

oh, were I come from we have exactly the same saying. Congrats on the baby!!! That’s really very awesome. Are you curious if it is a girl this time around? :)

10.October.2011

Congratulations! Maybe it’s good your boys are getting used to sharing a room!

10.October.2011

congrats, so exciting. I have been following your blog for nearly a year now and have recently been inspired enough to start my own!
Can’t wait to hear about all your ideas and projects related to baby #3!

10.October.2011

Congratulations Dana – you look wonderful! I love how these little projects (babies) kind of run themselves. You’ll be able to trade progress updates with HH – eg this week you installed eyelashes and toenails… All the best!

10.October.2011

AHH!!! I did not see this coming, but it is soooo exciting! I cannot wait to hear all the updates and see how you work the underdog with an extra kiddo! I am impressed with how long you keep this a secret from the blog. So many congratulations!

10.October.2011

The smaller the house is, the more comfortable the nest is ! And how about a baby girl, that could be interesting too, and a whole new world for you !! What a challenge ! Wish you the best. (I’m the first of three girls…)

10.October.2011

Yay, amazing news, congratulations! I too want to ask when he/she is due and if you know which one you (and we your readers :D) are expecting. I’m also excited for the nursery design ideas etc. you’ll come up, as we will hopefully in the (not-too-far) future get to plan the same.

10.October.2011

Oh my gosh, I just had to get off my rear and comment at last to say congratulations! I LOVE your blog and how real it is.

I know you will find this baby will be the apple of your eye. Just relax and let what will be… be.

Congratulations to all the family!

10.October.2011

congratulations!!!!!

10.October.2011

Congratulations!! We wouldn’t change a thing about our unexpected surprise x2…it was life-changing but we are so blessed. God had different plans for our family of four. I always planned two kids in my perfect little world. Now things are chaotic and we have totally outgrown our house but we wouldn’t change a thing. Enjoy this miracle. :)

10.October.2011

OMG! Life really is what happens while you’re busy making other plans! We tried to get pregnant for 6 years and eventually got there with IVF. 5 years later after more herbs, IVF etc. we gave up, happy with our perfect daughter. I think you know where this is going: bingo, baby number 2. All natural and completely unexpected, not to mention against the odds. At 43, I thought I was menopausal, not pregnant! Daughter number 2 is turning one next week and hubby and I are still pinching ourselves to make sure we’re not dreaming. So happy for you, it will be wonderful.

10.October.2011

Congratulations! Our #3 was an unexpected surprise too seeing as we were on bc and #2 was only 9 months old at the time! Once #3 joined our family I couldn’t imagine life without him. Hope you’re feeling well!

Love your blog and all the updates on the Underdog.

10.October.2011

Congrats, Dana…beautiful pregnant woman!!

10.October.2011

Congrats! I am excited for you and your family as this is a true blessing. Also…your sense of humor makes this my favorite remodeling blog! The crack about the snuff lid had me laughing for 10 minutes!

10.October.2011

yay! Congrats to all 4 of you! My parents had a very unexpected third after they downsized too…9 years later. BUT my youngest sister was such a wonderful happy accident! What’s life without a little unexpected adventure every now and then, right? What did the boys say when you told them?

So happy for you guys. You look beautiful

K

10.October.2011

Congratulations! I have been lurking on your blog for a long time but had to chime in. We too had an unexpected 3rd baby who has been such an amazing blessing! We had two girls and now have an adorable baby boy. I was so in the dark I didn’t realize I was pregnant until I was almost 9 weeks along!
We too live in a small house but it works (the toys for a 5 year old, 2 year old, and 8 month old can be overwhelming at times since they are all at different developmental stages and want different things….but we try to stay minimalistic and basic). I find that organization is the key to keeping the chaos at bay! We have the two girls (the 5 and 2 year old) sharing a room and they LOVE it. It is so cute to hear them sing and talk themselves to sleep and to play quietly in the morning.

Congratulations!!

10.October.2011

Congratulations to you and your family!

10.October.2011

Congratulations! Your father in law is so right, God does just laugh at our plans. We were in the middle of a two year process on bringing our twins home from Africa when we found we were pregnant, with baby #5! Our twins came home in July, and 3 weeks later our son was born! The twins are 14 months and our son 9 weeks, plus our 4 year old and our 8 year old! We also live in a small home, 1100 square feet up top, and a partially finished basement. You can so rock this!

10.October.2011

Oh my goodness, congrats!!!! I’m so excited for you guys. And while I know this puts a “bump” in plans, I can’t wait to see what you guys do! As someone also living in a small ranch with 3 kids (#3 just arrived last year) I can’t wait to see how you approach the space situation. It’s one I’m still figuring out and I’d love to get any ideas I can from you. :) I have no doubts you’re going to come up with something fabulous!

10.October.2011

Well, this is some pretty exciting news for a Monday morning! Congrats to you!

Will you be finding out what you’re having?

10.October.2011

Congrats Dana! I’m so excited and curious to see some answers to the some of the comments above!

10.October.2011

You look great! I can’t wait to hear how far along you are. My first pregnancy, I probably looked like you currently do at, like, 34 weeks. My second, I’m sure I was popping out that much at 10. :)

Congrats!

10.October.2011

Congratulations! I think it is wonderful. Wasn’t part of the smaller house so you could stay home with your boys? Well, now you have another reason to be home. :)

You look beautiful!!

10.October.2011

Congrats! I’ve been reading your blog for a while now but never commented. We have a small ranch the exact same layout as your underdog and we are dreaming/planning on renovating it and love all your plans. But we are expecting baby #3 as well – and I’m very excited to see how you fit three kids in your house. you look great – every baby is a blessing

10.October.2011

I’m sure you’ve heard this before, but you really look like Jennifer Anniston.
Congrats on the baby! I just had one myself about 6 weeks old now :)

10.October.2011

Congratulations! Our unexpected is due in May. With a 7 and 5 yo already, starting over should be interesting. Hope you’re feeling well! :)

10.October.2011

Congrats! This is the most awesome kind of wrench to throw into your plans! :D

10.October.2011

YAY!!! Congratulations! You look amazing. Just consider this one more little design challenge. The life challenge part will work itself out no problems.

10.October.2011

After having two boys 21 months apart, we agonized about whether or not/ when to have a third. God decided it for us, and we were amazed at how easily she fit in! Congratulations!

10.October.2011

OMGosh! You are sneaky! LOL. Looks like you’ve sort of “known” for a while…(that “bump” is a bit bigger than a few weeks I’d say…lol). You were just keeping the news from us!

Congrats of course!!! Keeping my fingers crossed you’ll have a little girl to spoil and get wrapped around her daddy’s finger?? Of course, a boy would be just as much a blessing and seeing those two handsome ones you’ve got…this one should be just as cute…:)
Very happy for you guys!!! Let’s hope this doesn’t slow you down too much…I’m always checking to see what sort of progress you’ve made on the place…:)

10.October.2011

YAY! Me too – baby #3 due in February! Congrats, can’t wait to hear more!

10.October.2011

Well it sounds like this happens more than I thought! I too am pregnant with #3 which was not planned. At least not by me! I have a 4 year old girl and my son just turned one in August. This next girl is due March 1. We live in a awkwardly laid out 1200 sq ft bungalow so it will be tight but blessed! I am forever checking all my fav blogs for ideas for this small house. Keep them coming.
I am very excited for you! You look so beautiful!

10.October.2011

Congrats! What exciting news. Sometimes the unexpected can be even better than the expected. :)

10.October.2011

We are awaiting baby #3 right now as well (due December 27). We had started talking about the possibility of having a baby (our first two came to us through adoption) and I said to my husband, “Whatever happens is fine. I just don’t want to have a baby at Christmas.” Ooops…pretty sure I was already pregnant when I said that. We are as thrilled as I am sure you and your family are! Congratulations! We are in a small, mid-century ranch and our boys share a room already so we have just enough space for baby #3 when she arrives. Cozy is a good way to put it.

10.October.2011

Wonderful news. Congratulations!

10.October.2011

wow, congrats! How exciting!

10.October.2011

Congratulations! You look absolutely beautiful!

10.October.2011

Expected or not, congratulations on the addition to your lovely family!! :)

10.October.2011

Congrats Dana! What a wonderful surprise!

10.October.2011

Congrats! I look forward to opening up your blog and seeing what new things you have in store, but I wasn’t expecting that! I bet your boys are so excited!

Congratulations!

10.October.2011

How exciting! I wonder if your new addition will change your plans for your new house?

10.October.2011

Congrats! Unexpected news like this is certainly of the best kind. :)

10.October.2011

yay!!! you look great! :) i hope its a girl! congrats!!

10.October.2011

Congratulations!!!!! What a great post. I thought it was a bump in the house plans. Then I scroll down & see the little bump within you. Babies always bring GOOD LUCK & that is what I am wishing you & your family!!!!

10.October.2011

Congratulations! I have to say God does truly laugh when we plan. My husband was in the process of getting out of the military but we figured we would have 1 more baby before he got out, making us a family of 4. I had some issues with my first pregnancy and only wanted to be pregnant 1 more time and and was totally ok with having 2 kids. Well at 19 weeks we found out it was twins! (no early ultrasounds at a military hospital unless there are health issues) So now we have a 2.5 yr old and 1 year old twins and I can honestly say that I have never felt more blessed!

Congrats! You look great!

10.October.2011

BABIES ARE WONDERFUL! Our third baby was completely unexpected. My husband was speechless for days. Our third little girl made our family complete!

10.October.2011

Congratulations!! What an exciting surprise!!

10.October.2011

Ohhh Congrats! How fun for you guys!! Excited for you!

10.October.2011

Congratulations! We had an unexpected third baby when we were actively trying to not have a baby too.

10.October.2011

Congratulations!! So, does this mean the boys will be sharing the larger of the two kid’s rooms, and Baby will go in the small room?
Also, can I just say that yours and everyone else who posted a story similar scares the crap out of me?? My husband is in school right now and we are actively trying NOT to get pregnant, but for some reason I am nervous I will!!
So exciting though- a baby is always a blessing, but when they are unexpected, I think it’s more of an affirmation that it was God’s plan!

10.October.2011

Congratulations!!!

10.October.2011

Congrats to you and your family! Best of luck for healthy, happy pregnancy. What do they always say, the best laid plans…. :)

10.October.2011

Oh wow, congratulations, I just had (5 months ago) my unplanned but not unwanted baby #2 I found out when my first turned 1, what a surprise! I now have two wonderful girls, the biggest blessings God has sent my way. It totally changed my world but not in a bad way. They are both so special in there own unique ways. I am so happy for u cant wait to hear all about the nursery plans,I’m sure u have some great ideas already wandering in ur head. U look really cute too, I hope u have a beautiful little girl just like mama.

10.October.2011

Congratulations! So exciting! You look amazing and even though it is unexpected, I’m sure this baby will be a huge blessing, just like your other two. I want to know… how are you feeling (sick, tired, etc.)? i wish you an easy pregnancy! Does this affect your plan to work 5 more years? How did HH and the boys handle the news?

I selfishly can’t wait to see how you organize your home with three kids. So exciting for your blog! :)

10.October.2011

Congratulations! What great news!!!

10.October.2011

So sweet! Our third bundle was unexpected too (our 2nd and 3rd are only 20 mos apart). But I guess we survived bc we went on to have a fourth (completely planned). New life is always good news. Congratulations to you!

10.October.2011

Such special news! Congratulations!!!

10.October.2011

Wowza! What a nice surprise for your family! You look very healthy & happy! Congratulations! (on a side note – I am LOVING my steam mop!!!)

10.October.2011

Yay!! That is wonderful!! You look so glowy and cheerful…and your optimistic, positive attitude turns every situation and square foot into sunshine. :) I love your writing, wit and talent, and this new adventure makes it all the more awesome!! Congratulations to you and your family!!!

10.October.2011

Congratulations! I love your fall pictures with your “little pumpkin.”

10.October.2011

Congratulations! You look lovely. I hope you are feeling well.

10.October.2011

Super cute baby bump!

10.October.2011

Congratulations Dana!! What an exciting time for you and your beautiful family! Love your father-in-law’s insight. Great words of wisdom. :)

10.October.2011

Congrats! I know the feeling. Hubby and I are also “unexpectedly” expecting our third about the first week of January. It was so unexpected there is some confusion as to the “exact” due date! :) We have about a month lee-way!! Oh well. Congrats again. You look beautiful!

10.October.2011

Congrats! Can’t wait to hear all of the details!

10.October.2011

Congratulations! It will be an interesting year for you all. I hope you will continue to share. My husband and I and two boys live in a small bungalow ourselves so it will be interesting seeing how you accommodate your expanded family into a smaller home. I can never find anywhere to put stuff!

10.October.2011

Congratulations to you and Handy Hubby both! And I laughed out loud at your “P.S.” at the bottom about the camera lens! Thanks for making me laugh!

10.October.2011

Dana, that is awesome!!! Congrats to you and your family. What a blessing. :)

10.October.2011

How exciting!! Congratulations!!! I can’t wait to see how the baby influences the design plan for the house!! :)

10.October.2011

congrats to you! you are the cutest pg girl ever, maybe it will be a sweet girl!!!!! best of luck to you:)

10.October.2011

Congrats! I have 5 kids, and let’s be honest, the last 2 (twins) were completely “unexpected”. I love your father-in-law’s quote! We always say, life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans. Big houses don’t bring happiness, but big families do. Enjoy.

10.October.2011

congrats! a blessing!

10.October.2011

Congrats!! Are you going to find out beforehand if the baby is a boy or girl?

10.October.2011

Congrats! That is so amazing. :)

10.October.2011

That’s so awesome! Congrats Dana!

10.October.2011

10.October.2011

Ahhhh! How exciting! I have been loving your blog for just over a month now and felt compelled to comment on your gorgeous news! As the proud aunty of two new baby girls 3 weeks apart, I am full of baby happiness! Amazing!

10.October.2011

Congratulations! I am unexpectedly expecting our second. We’d always planned on having two, just not quite so soon!

I’m very curious to see how you’ll be doing room sharing, as my two will be sharing a room and I’d love some ideas!

10.October.2011

Congrats!!! You look amazing. BLAH!!!! I say that with love. You really look incredible.
What a blessing. :)

10.October.2011

Congratulations!! We’re debating on having a #2. Took me 6 years to have #1, kind of fear another pregnancy lol. Is the Underdog a 3 bedroom? Will the boys be sharing? I’m a newer reader, so I may have missed that topic.

10.October.2011

Congratulations to you and your entire family :) My hubby and I are expecting our 4th bundle of joy in about 6 weeks. We live in a “smallish” house with three boys already, so space is going to be a challenge as well. I love finding space in the “odd” spots of our home :)

10.October.2011

Congratulations! The Underdog shall become an Over-achiever in honor of your newest family member! May all proceed smoothly and produce gorgeous, happy-making results!

10.October.2011

How wonderful! Congratulations!! Guaranteed in a few months’ time you’ll be saying to that new babe, “how did we ever live without you?” (speaking from experience there!) I love your father-in-law’s quote – that is excellent!

10.October.2011

CONGRATS!!!!!! so happy for y’all! ok my ? is…….if sweet baby #3 is a girl what are your plans for her room?!

Maile – HH’s parents have a place in Surfside, so it may not be that far-fetched!

Congratulations! Will you be in the underdog before the new baby comes? While you have the underdog down to the studs have you thought about wiring and plumbing the garage for a future master? I too live in Ohio and I probably wouldn’t want to go without a garage in the winter but after growing up with 3 children (#3 was a BIG surprise to my parents too) in a 800 square foot house, I think there are times when my parents would have given up the garage to have a little space to themselves. Hope this new addtion can make your 5 year plan shorter, not longer.

Yeah for baby love!! About 1 yr. ago we left a large rowhouse about two blocks from the art museum in Philly, PA. We moved to a rural small town in NH, to a house half the size, and added a third baby. Yes, a small home is definately cozy with a 7 y/o, 5 1/2 y/o, & a newborn, but life is awesome! Keep blogging, I love your design style and watching the Underdog evolve. Congratulations to you & the family.

That is wonderful news!! Congrats!!! Nothing like a new baby to put the pressure on the Daddy to finish up renos (or house tweaking). So excited to see how this all works out with the Renovations and Nesting. Again, Congrats!!!

11.October.2011

Congrats!! We’re expecting baby #2 and I’m almost in the 2nd trimester. Can’t wait for that! I hope you have been feeling well and that you have a great pregnancy!

Congratulations!

Long time lurker, first time commenter — CONGRATS!! Such exciting news for your family. Unexpected does not mean unloved, I’m sure you have plenty more love to give .. and you’ll find the space :) Wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy.

Question: If you find out it’s a girl … do you think you’ll start looking at less “masculine” things for the house? Oh, I guess I should first ask, are you going to find out what you’re having??

11.October.2011

Congratulations – you look wonderful!! Take it easy, mamma, with all the reno stuff! :-)

11.October.2011

WOW!! Congrats! Can’t wait to see how you revamp the house plans!

11.October.2011

Congratulations :) Please share the story of how you found out!

11.October.2011

So happy for you. Can’t wait for the nursery!!!!!

Congratulations! I was sure when I saw the title that something had gone wrong with the construction of the Underdog, but was pleasantly surprised by your fun announcement. Maybe it’ll be a girl this time? I’m sure either way your two boys will love having a new sibling!

11.October.2011

Congratulations! How wonderful for your family. I think it is a blessing that you actually found out about your new addition before you finished your Underdog!
I really enjoy your blog and all the work your HH and you are doing. Keep up the hard work, it will be wonderful in the end!

Just wanted to congratulate you on the new addition to your adventure! We had our home on the market at the beginning of ’09 after we had our second child. We got a call from a woman that wanted to come through the house, and as soon as she came in she let us know she wasn’t interested in purchasing at all – she grew up in our modest 1,100 sq. ft bungalow in the ’50’s with her 4 siblings! There were 2 adults and 5 kids in our 3 bedroom house. We took our cozy (and totally affordable) home off the market. We are still here today. I look forward to following your journey, thank you for sharing.

12.October.2011

Congratulations!!! So exciting for you!!

Oh my gosh! Congratulations!!! My mom always said that it doesn’t matter where you are in your life, a baby makes room for his or herself. In your home, in your wallet, and in your heart.

I am guessing bunk beds are in your future?

And if it is a girl don’t worry — my boy/girl pair have no problem sharing a room.

12.October.2011

Congratulations!! I wish you the best during this pregnancy. Any morning sickness or weird cravings yet? Have you scaled back your involvement in the Underdog, or are you still just as hands on as before? How did you tell Handy Hubby since it was not anything you guys were planning on?

12.October.2011

How exciting! Congrats!!

12.October.2011

Teaches me to forget to check your blog for a week or so…

12.October.2011

Congratulations! I’ve been following you ever since Google sent me your way last Christmas. Am impressed always. How are you dealing with paints fumes and such while remodeling and pregnant?

12.October.2011

Congrats. I love your blog I started reading it because we are painting our oak cabinets white and I found your blog for an example of what we hope it will look like. Loved your house! So, my question is did you have an IUD? Your getting me nervous of how you were preventing and got a surprise. This baby is very much meant to be and I love the unexpected but not unwanted, beautifully said! :)

OMG! Congratulations Dana (and hubby)! That is wonderful news and you look absolutely stunning! Although unexpected, it’s just another blessing in life! So happy for your beautiful family!

Congratulations to you! Love your father in laws comment. So True!!

[…] pretty amazing with dining spaces. I figured she would never write back, she’s a little busy, and disgustingly gorgeous while pregnant, but she did write back and oh was she right and helpful […]

[…] That guy is verrrrry sneaky. I pride myself on not being easily surprised. In fact, I can only think of two other moments in my life where I was genuinely surprised: 1) when Steve proposed (we had never even talked about getting married and I was under the assumption that he was in another state at the time) and 2) when we discovered we were pregnant with #3.
