...because home doesn't happen overnight.

Happy Friday, everyone!  We’ve had a great week of Halloween parties and dressing up in costumes left and right.  We’ve also enjoyed a little renovation downtime with Handy Hubby while the pros take care of the insulation.  It’s been wonderful getting to eat dinner as a family for several days in a row…something we all miss while this reno is going on.  But it’s only temporary.

The winner of the Scout by Bungalow giveaway is Michelle who has two gerbils named Max & Ruby after the kids’ PBS show characters.  It was so sweet to hear about all of your pets {past and present} and how they earned their monikers!

I hope you all have a lovely weekend filled with tricking and treating.

Please keep my sister in your thoughts as she is losing her very bestest furry friend today and we are losing a special family member.  In loving memory of…

Harp Willow {a.k.a. Best.Dog.Ever.}

Love you Doggie Harp.  May you suffer no longer.

awww…. we are ‘boxer people’, so this makes me especially sad :(

: ( So sorry to hear about your family’s loss. I’m sitting here right now with our new puppy, after we lost our dog Cruz to cancer in February. The new pup is awesome, but nothing can replace a beloved furry child, or furry niece in your position. Peace and healing to you all!

such sad news…it’s amazing how our furry friends quickly become a part of the family, they are the true embodiment of unconditional love!

Oh I’m so sorry for your sister’s family and yours. Rest well Harp Willow.

Holding you all, and especially Harp Willow, in the light.

Aww..so sad! We have a boxer, Kirby too! Praying for your sisters family!

Aw, my big boy is a boxer. I love him like he’s my child. He is the SWEETEST!

All dogs go to heaven!

Hearing about someone who lost an animal always pulls at my heart strings and forces me to comment. I have been there and it is awful :( Animals are huge parts of our lives and families, while not everyone may agree, there are certainly plenty of people out there who know exactly how your family feels! I’m sure Harp lived a great life and was very loved :)

I’m so sorry, my thoughts and prayers to your whole family and Harp.

If It Should Be

If it should be that I grow weak
And pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then you must do what must be done,
For this last battle cannot be won.

You will be sad, I understand.
Don’t let your grief then stay your hand.
For this day, more than all the rest,
Your love for me must stand the test.

We’ve had so many happy years.
What is to come can hold no fears.
You’d not want me to suffer so;
The time has come — please let me go.

Take me where my need they’ll tend,
And please stay with me till the end.
Hold me firm and speak to me,
Until my eyes no longer see.

I know in time that you will see
The kindness that you did for me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I’ve been saved.

Please do not grieve — it must be you
Who had this painful thing to do.
We’ve been so close, we two, these years;
Don’t let your heart hold back its tears

I had to say good bye to my cat of 18 years this December…. I roped my parents into getting her for me when I was in grade 3 and didn’t know life without her!! I think about her everyday.
My deepest sympathies to your sister…..

So sorry for the loss, four legged friends are hard to say goodbye to. My thoughts are with your family.
Glad you had a good week as a family. Have a happy weekend!

My thoughts are with your sister. Having to put my Dalmatian to sleep was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. Devastating. Losing a pet is losing family.

Hugs to your sister and you. We lost our two pugs in June within 5 days of each other and our world has been a bit off ever since. I recommend Dog Heaven by Cynthia Rylant for your family. My 6 year old found it to be especially comforting in dealing with her grief. RIP, Willow. Look for Buffy and Zelda pugs in Dog Heaven. They’ll show you the ropes.
