...because home doesn't happen overnight.

Now that we have most of our basic furniture pieces in place, I’m slowing getting around to hanging stuff on the walls. I’m drawn to taxidermy but not the moose lodge / trophy room look. I like simple vintage pieces or modern alternatives. I recently discovered White Faux Taxidermy and I’m hooked.

WFT 1

The items offered by this etsy shop are made with a polyresin material, making them animal-friendly and lightweight. You can choose from various animals, sizes and finishes. I like the white and gold pieces above for a neutral and sophisticated living room. Glitter bison horns anyone?

WFT 2

Don’t let the word “white” in the shop’s name fool you. There are colorful options that would be charming in a nursery, child’s bedroom or playroom.

One of the best things about WFT is they have a pinterest board showcasing many of their items in clients’ spaces. Do you spy the silver tabletop skull?

How precious is this nursery with the deer head? And that belly button!

In terms of taxidermy, would you go faux?

Check in later today for a sneak peek of my bedroom!

I love their work but couldn’t quite handle the price tag. Ebay sells a lot of resin animal heads for about half the price of these. A few light layers of spray paint in the color of your choice and voila! Just a suggestion for those wanting the look while saving some $$.

I have a papier mache moose head I painted pale pink. It’s silly and fun and was cheap enough I won’t worry when I’m tired of the trend.

not a huge fan of the etsy crush posts.

I keep obsessively checking for the bedroom update! Thought I would comment while I am here. Again. *grin*

I’ve never been a huge taxidermy or even faux taxidermy fan, but that elephant head hit me where I live. I WANT IT.

I actually like these a lot. Sometimes it is fun to see not jus the things designers have done in their homes, but also the things that inspire them on a daily basis. And Etsy is a great place for personalized tweaking.

This is so great! I feel like I’ve been wanting something like this for a while but could never find it. So many options!

This trend isn’t for me. If it is for you, I definitely think faux is the way to go! The bright colors make it obvious it’s pure art & not trying to look like the real thing. I am curious to see what you will choose.

I would totally go faux! In fact, I already have – there’s a white rhino head (from Z Gallerie) above the toilet in my 1st floor half bath – he’s quite the conversation piece and our guests love him! Guys just have to be leery of leaning over too far – that horn sticks out pretty far! We like the cheeky, modern feel of our rhino, but would never have REAL taxidermy in our home.

I enjoy these posts because sometimes I have a hard time finding new things on that site and so far I not only want the stuff for myself but some things would make nice gifts as well. I appreciate them.

Love faux taxidermy, and I love these posts! Every week I have a new seller to add to my favorites list that I otherwise wouldn’t have come across. Thanks for sharing :)

I kind of like the bison with the glitter horns! It’s weird and strange, but also beautiful in its own strange way… You know I studied Biology and at the university (the Biology labs were in an old castle!) we had a room full of (real!) stuffed taxidermy and it was such a spooky place. (Now I wish I had taken photos…) I don’t like the other two white skull things there and I’m also not a huge fan of the pastel colored heads …

I’ve got a magenta stag head on my amazon wishlist (just waiting for pay day!) for my living room. I can’t wait to be THAT person.

Hanna–word. That’s exactly how I feel. Seeing what floats other folks’ boats is great fun and helps you to understand (to borrow an overused Project Runway phrase) their design aesthetic. I do Etsy round-ups on my blog too. Love making them; love seeing other bloggers do them. Keep ’em coming!

I just ordered a big white deer head from them. I’ll be hanging it next week in our mountain house – I’m so excited!!

LOVE THIS! I think you should put a bright pink resin one in your daughter’s room–the dark paint would really make it pop :-)
I just received my taxidermy deer head on Friday–but it’s paper/cardboard by MIHO. It’s pretty and another fun option. http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B008EINUBQ
By the way, I really like the gray in the master bedroom as well! I’ll have to check it out because I want to change the gray in my bedroom, too. I was afraid of going too dark, but of course the color I chose wasn’t dark enough.

I love these posts and I love faux taxidermy. We’re hoping to sell our cute little bungalow soon and I want our next house to be clean lined and mid-centuryish. I’ve been dreaming of a white or gold deer head for my new, imaginary house.
