...because home doesn't happen overnight.

*THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED.*

Congratulations to Christine whom survived a toddler + dog + food coloring incident. I can’t even imagine.

*Thank you everyone for sending love and well wishes to our family yesterday. It was so comforting to read your similar experiences and know I’m not alone in my feelings of guilt and gratitude. Everett begged to return to school today so I think the worst is behind us.*

wft win1

The fabric circles chandy I made for the nursery didn’t stand a chance against Toddler Mabrey. The minute she was big enough to grab it from a sitting position on the changing pad, it came down. I tried rehanging it but the very next diaper change it fell to its demise again at the hands of one very curious toddler.

wft win2

So when the kind animal lovers at White Faux Taxidermy offered to send a mini Templeton my way, I had no shame in accepting. I knew just where Templeton should live. {Do you remember me mentioning WFT here? Well, they have their own site, too!}

wft collage

I hung the resin deer head with a drywall anchor and screw. The back of the deer has a built-in hanger and protective pads to make hanging a cinch. In memoriam of the fallen chandy, I stitched a few of the fabric circle strands together to make a larger, single garland and draped it across the deer’s antlers. The faux deer head only extends ~5″ from the wall so it’s out of Mabrey’s reach when I’m changing or dressing her. Which is a good thing. Mabrey wants to manhandle the deer every time she sees it.

The other good thing about the mini Templeton is…

wft win

…you have the chance to win one for yourself! See entry details below.

PRIZE: one mini Templeton {$45 value}

RULES: You must be at least 18 years old and have a shipping address {no P.O. boxes please} within the U.S. One entry per email address.

TO ENTER: “Like” White Faux Taxidermy on facebook then leave a comment on this post proclaiming “OH DEER!”

DEADLINE: Enter before 9:00 p.m. EST on Sunday, September 15th. One random winner will be announced Monday, September 16th.

WHILE YOU’RE AT IT: Since we’re talking curious kiddos today…is there anything decor-related in your home that has been assaulted by the lil’ people in your house? Crayon drawings on the walls? Paint on the rug? Markers on the sofa? I shared Mabrey’s assault of the mobile I made for her but I’ll share another. About a year ago, Everett found a thin metal rod and used it to scratch up our stainless fridge. Kids. Gotta love ’em.

OH DEER!

My daughter needs this. I love it

10.September.2013

Oh, deer!!!!! Such beautiful faux taxidermy!

10.September.2013

OH DEER! I don’t have any children of my own but have several nieces and nephews. I think the biggest assault on my house was my niece got a hold of a sharpie and decided it would be fun to color the TV, cork floors and a mini fridge in our rec room. Needless to say it all pretty much came off but the look on everyone’s faces when discovering this lovely new artwork was priceless!

10.September.2013

OH DEER!
Can my little daughter have you in her room please? We will take good care of you…

10.September.2013

oh deer!

In our last house- my husband was pushing our daughter around in her cozy coupe- in the living room! They were laughing and spinning and going wild, until I noticed it was leaving swirly scratch marks all over our entire (huge!) living room floors!

10.September.2013

OH DEER! I love this little guy! Thanks for the opportunity :)

10.September.2013

OH DEER!

Nothing by kids, but we have to keep everything out of dog-tails reach.

10.September.2013

OH DEER!

I love this! So cute. We moved into our new house almost a year ago and the walls are still bare.

10.September.2013

OH DEER!

Excited about this one!

10.September.2013

Ohhhhhh deeeerr!! My little kiddos (the furry ones) will eat any and all panties. Crotch less panties are not that sexy when you pull them out of your dogs mouth.

10.September.2013

OH DEER!

Nope, no kids. Just a destructive (accidentally) boyfriend and dog.

10.September.2013

OH DEER! So cute ;-)

10.September.2013

OH DEER!

I love WFT, I have their Mini Ramiro and Mini Jefferson! Love!

10.September.2013

OH DEER! Nothing by kids but my drawers in the dressers in my master bedroom have scratch marks on the edges where my cat has scratched them up. she claws the drawers open and then sleeps in them.

10.September.2013

OH DEER!

Love White Faux Taxidermy. Just hung the mini gold bear head in my little girl’s room. Now we’re just waiting for her to arrive!

10.September.2013

OH DEER! No kids yet, but the dog is very into destroying things!

10.September.2013

OH DEER! Adorable. I heart faux taxidermy :)

10.September.2013

OH DEER!!

No kiddos yet, but my not-quite-year-old yellow lab sheds all over our navy blue couch. He’s worth it :)

OH DEER!! Love this post and I never tire of faux taxidermy :) xo Kristin

10.September.2013

OH DEER!
no kids yet, but one on the way, and I’m mentally preparing myself for my stuff getting ruined (unless the Husband counts.. he is basically an oversized child who spills on everything) :) That deer is perfect for the nursery I have planned for the lil nugget!!

10.September.2013

OH DEER!!! i want i want!!!!
my daughter grace is not so graceful… she’s so clumsy like her mom. constantly tripping and tumbling because she’s so distracted. one day she had some milk in a sippy cup and spilled it all over the couch, carpet, dog, tv… needless to say we make her sit at the table now whenever she’s eating or drinking anything

10.September.2013

OH DEER!

I love it! Including the draped garland. My oldest is 11 and I could write a book on the things they have destroyed. A recent one is actually from the oldest. I found a heart with initials carved in my end table in the living room. Young love, lol!

10.September.2013

OH DEER! I hope I win this cute giveaway!

10.September.2013

Oh deer! Love these little guys…

10.September.2013

OH DEER! the masses of toys are the assault on our house! nothing permanent…oh wait, my daughter did use a silver sharpie to write our names on the front porch steps…”sophie, nick, momommy”

10.September.2013

OH DEER!

We don’t have any kiddos yet, but I have a distinct memory of my best friend spilling milk in the backseat of my family’s brand new mini van when we were in elementary school. It smelled for months, and the look on my mom’s face is memorable to this day!

10.September.2013

Oh deer!

And with a 3 1/2 year old and an 8 month old, they are finding new things to turn into “toys” everyday. My baby loves using the ottoman with wheels as a makeshift walker!

10.September.2013

OH DEER! So cute!
My youngest son LOVES balls…. has since the time he could sit up to see them. Balls and cars are his LIFE. All boy, that one. We have a “mobile” of 5 hanging paper lanterns (3 of which have corded bulb lights inside them for dim lighting) hanging over his changing table. While he can’t reach them, he points and says “Baaaaa” every time and wants to touch them. Sometimes we oblige and let him poke them with a finger after a fresh diaper since he can’t do any unsupervised harm to them until he grows about 4 more feet in height!
My oldest son, however, took to the walls with a dark green colored pencil just YESTERDAY. He is thanking his lucky stars that we already planned to patch and paint an adjacent living room wall in the same color this weekend before our new-to-us piano will be delivered for that room next week. He has lost all unsupervised writing fun…. a privilege he had never abused until yesterday!

10.September.2013

Oh Deer! You’ve inspired a new love of taxidermy!

10.September.2013

Oh Deer! And oh my goodness, when did Mabrey turn into a little girl? I’ve been reading your blog for quite a while now and it seems like she was JUST a baby.

My favorite “things being destroyed by kids” story is my best friend’s little brother who drew a monster on the wall. It was quite good so his mom just put a frame up on the wall around it. She’s an awesome lady and that just made her even more awesome.

10.September.2013

OH DEER! Can think of so many places for faux taxidermy in our home :)

10.September.2013

OH DEER!

I have many stories I could tell…. lets see, when my youngest was about 2, he climbed the kitchen cabinets and found my food coloring stash in one of the upper cabinets. I was downstairs doing laundry and by the time I came upstairs, the walls were covered along with his clothes and hair… I freaked out and the dog came running to see what was going on. Our yellow lab was also covered in green and blue food coloring. That was a fun experience.

10.September.2013

OH DEER!!!

I love it!

10.September.2013

oh deer!

I am have been reading your blog for about 9 months now, but have never commented before. But this giveaway brought me out of my shell. I have been eyeing WFT for a while on Facebook, and this is my chance to nab one of their pieces. Thanks for making it possible!

10.September.2013

I don’t qualify for the Templeton giveaway (more Canadian love, please!) but my daughter’s newest interest lies in the on/off pull for the fan in our master. It is now *just* within her reach when I am holding her…and boosting her up a little. When the fan is off she flings her arms in circles!

Thanks for reminding me about your ‘chandy’. I am the proud new owner of an older-but-in-great-condition sewing machine. This could get me started :)

10.September.2013

Oh Deer!

This would be perfect in my baby boy’s nursery!

10.September.2013

Oh deer! I have just the spot for this.
As for distructo-kiddos – we recently moved into a new construction home. Due to a corporate relo, movers did the packing. I was unpacking a box in the bedroom, my three year old opened a box labeled “linens”, pulled out a bottle of Tilex (so NOT a ‘linen’), and went to town spraying down the BRAND NEW CARPET. Hello, brand new, bleached-to-lilac carpet :-)

10.September.2013

Oh deer!
I recently painted my newborns room and the very next week I walked in in my older two boys “fighting monsters”. They had thrown thing everywhere and left black scuff marks in my pretty white walls.

10.September.2013

OH DEER!

My kiddos have marked up the wood my purty table with forks, plates, etc to no end. You can definitely tell where they sit. Ah well…

10.September.2013

OH DEER! Our little lady likes to throw all her wooden blocks on our pretty hardwood floors. I’m seeing more dents everyday but like to think that it’s adding ‘character’ to our home. :)

10.September.2013

OH DEER! Delightful little quirky piece for Mabrey’s room – I’m thinking it would look lovely in my studio! Thanks!

10.September.2013

OH DEER!

My daughter just scribbled crayon on my car’s window. Still working on getting it off. Glad it wasn’t anything major!

10.September.2013

OH DEER! No kids here, but the dog does enough damage. A throw pillow and my duvet cover are just 2 of the casualties.

10.September.2013

OH DEER!

I love WFT!

10.September.2013

Oh Deer! No kids to destroy things yet. But our 2 cats and 1 dog are pretty rough on our furniture and floors.

10.September.2013

OH DEER!!

My niece Piper would LOVE this!!

10.September.2013

OH DEER! I love the giraffe ones! =)

10.September.2013

Oh deer!
This is so adorable!

10.September.2013

OH DEER, I love this giveaway!!

10.September.2013

OH DEER! Save the animals go faux

10.September.2013

OH DEER! I need an addition to my faux collection!

10.September.2013

OH DEER!! Love these and so hope to win. :)

10.September.2013

Oh Deer! I absolutely love WFT such great products

10.September.2013

Oh deer!

I have been wanting a faux animal forever….and I love this one!

Molly (22 months) is very curious but we have not had any major incidents yet. Just the usual destruction of going through everything she can reach in the house!

10.September.2013

Oh Deer! What a sweet little guy.

10.September.2013

oh deer! this guy would look super cute above my bed!

10.September.2013

OH DEER! Houseplants and photo albums are the victims of our busy toddler.

10.September.2013

OH DEER!
I waaaaant :)
As my son use to say when he was little :)
As a toddler he only broke 1 of my decorating items – and it was because I wasn’t keeping an eye on him!

10.September.2013

Oh deer! My daughter colored our stairs with crayon.

10.September.2013

OH DEER! I want that! My bff has that and I WANT it!

10.September.2013

“OH DEER!” oh i want a little deer!! My front planters get hit repeatedly with basketballs.

10.September.2013

OH DEER! Our (cheap) dining room table is a WRECK from our two toddlers, but it doesn’t really seem worth refinishing/replacing until everyone is done throwing/scratching/coloring/spilling on it.

10.September.2013

OH DEER! Our dog has chewed up 2 Mac power cords to the tune of $80 each.

10.September.2013

OH DEER! Nothing is safe from my 13-month old. Every surface less than 3 feet high has to be empty or have kid-safe things on it, because you can bet he’ll be yanking them off!

10.September.2013

Oh deer!

My little man would adore this :)

10.September.2013

Oh Deer!! I want this in my office, it works with my pallet wall!

10.September.2013

OH DEER! I have three kids…my house has been colored, playdohed, torn apart. I love those stinkers.
This would be SO cute in my middle’s room that we are just about to redo!!! He is a big animal lover!

10.September.2013

OH DEER! We had to move all our picture frames up because our 2 year old was taking them apart and got a hold of the glass! Eeek!

10.September.2013

Oh Deer! I love that deer head!! My grandson tipped one of my bar stools over and hit our new stainless steel frig and put a dent in it….

10.September.2013

OH DEER! No kiddos for me yet, but every area rug in my apartment has seen some sort of canine bodily fluid at one point or another… why don’t they ever do that stuff on the hardwood where it’s easy to clean up? Thank goodness for Home Goods rugs and good carpet cleaner. Obviously, this is nothing in comparison to what I’m sure I’ll face one day with little ones!

10.September.2013

OH DEER!

When we moved into our in-need-of-much-renovation home the kids’ bedroom had fuzzy (flocked?) wallpaper that was at least 30 years old. At night they would rub and rub and rub the wallpaper until there were big bare patches near where they slept… except for one spot where a large cross must have been hanging on the wall, protecting the flocking adhesive from sun and other elements. Since the glue was still strong in that spot, the fuzziness did not rub away and we got to watch the shape of the cross slowly “emerge” from the wall. A little freaky.

10.September.2013

Oh deer! My daughter has a penchant for picking at things, and has picked the paint off the walls of our new home in two different places!

10.September.2013

OH DEER!! My little ones would love this in the playroom!

10.September.2013

Oh Deer!

My little loves have managed to shatter all of my monogrammed coasters :)

10.September.2013

OH DEER!

one of my twin boys was throwing one of those sticky men against a window and watching him crawl down. the next thing i knew the sticky man was hanging from the ceiling. we couldn’t reach him even on a ladder and had to wait for him to fall. when he finally did, there was (and still is) a stain on the ceiling.

10.September.2013

OH DEER!

We’ve been so lucky, so far… the only “decorating” my little guys have done is some crayon drawings on our laminate wood floor. But it came up so easily, I hardly think I should be allowed to mention it… ;)

Our dog on the other hand… he’s chewed on antique wood chairs, the bottom cabinets in our kitchen, and a number of rugs.

10.September.2013

Oh Deer!

They are really nice – would love to win one!

10.September.2013

OH DEER!

I do not have kids as of now. But I remember when I was younger, I gave my baby doll a haircut and swept all of the evidence under a chair!

10.September.2013

OH DEER!

I’ve been drooling over those faux taxidermy beauties forEVER! Literally years…I don’t know why I haven’t bought myself one yet but I think it’s because I just can’t decide which one I want!

10.September.2013

OH DEER. So, when exactly did Mabrey get so big? Sheesh, doesn’t she know she is the baby?

10.September.2013

OH DEER! I’ve been wanting one for over our fireplace forever, this is perfect!

10.September.2013

OH DEER!!

No kiddos yet!

10.September.2013

OH DEER.

I actually don’t have much to be a victim of being decor-demolished. HA!

10.September.2013

OH DEER! do dog shenanigans count? mine is particularly fond of vintage shoes.

10.September.2013

OH DEER! I have been wanting one of these for quite sometime.

10.September.2013

OH DEER! I have been pining for one of these little guys for my 3 yr old son’s room for, like, EVER. I have a perfect spot for it, right above the wall mounted antique skis. Me want!

10.September.2013

OH DEER! We have some lovely flourescent pink playdough mashed into our new beige carpet.

10.September.2013

OH DEER! I’m off to see if they have a fox one as well. My daughter LOVES foxes.

10.September.2013

OH DEER! I would love to win that beautiful faux taxidermy! love it & your site. :)

OH DEER!!

Anything within my 10 month olds reach is assualted!!!

10.September.2013

oh deer! i don’t have kids yet, but i’m sure that when i do, my light-colors-everywhere decor will have to change a little :)

10.September.2013

OH DEER! My son broke an antique mirror of mine, partly my fault I left it at ground level for a day. Thankfully no one was hurt and it didn’t fall towards him and only broke into 3 big chunks.

10.September.2013

Oh deer! Our little dear is due in a little over a month (oh dear!) so he hasn’t yet had a chance to mess anything up, but I’m already thinking about how to make the house baby friendly!

10.September.2013

“OH DEER!”
Playroom walls are covered in dings and dents. It looks like colorful confetti was thrown all over the walls, but its just the colors left behind from “flying” toys scraped on the wall lol

10.September.2013

OH DEER! Please choose me!!

10.September.2013

OH DEER!! Such an adorable room:) The deer head just tops it all off!
xo, amy

10.September.2013

OH DEER! Um… I don’t have kids, so nothing destroyed on that front. I like to collect feathers while in the woods (totally illegal technically, not recommended) and my Cat likes to try and climb our fireplace to get to them on the mantle.

10.September.2013

Oh Deer! I am loving the look of the faux taxidermy! The elephants on the site are amazing and I love all of them! Such a cool giveaway. I love the look of your home and your baby girls room!

10.September.2013

Oh DEER!

Our first is due in January(yeay!). We’re trying to kid proof now but I can only imagine what this little one will be capable of : )

10.September.2013

Oh Deer!

Our little one hasn’t achieved any major feats of “uh-oh’s” yet, but he’s only one. I know it’s only time before we’ll have a list to choose from.

10.September.2013

OH DEER!

I’ve been eyeing these forever, but my husband isn’t as fond of the idea, but if I win one I think I could “win” him over! ;)

10.September.2013

Oh deer! My daughter just wreaked havoc on my walls, furniture, tv, and windows with a green crayon! Magic erasers were a saving grace!

10.September.2013

OH DEER!

How my children have messed up, er added to our decor…let me count the ways.
1. When my older daughters were little I would mark their height on the wall with a marker. I come in the living room to find red marker down the entire wall. I told her “we don’t draw on the wall” She took me to the height chart and says you do. Check mate.
2. My nephew (technically not my kid, but still a kid no less) broke a glow stick on my brand new leather couch. It bleached the brown leather. I cried a little. Then I colored it in with a brown sharpie. Wasn’t as noticeable.
3. I could go on….

10.September.2013

Oh Deer! Last year our 6 year old took a screw she found on the floor and used it scratch up the flat screen tv. It wasn’t pretty.

10.September.2013

OH DEER! Our youngest daughter has helped us realize that light beige carpet is never a good idea in a child’s room.

10.September.2013

Oh Deer! We had pictures of family members hanging near our changing table which promptly came down when my daughter was old enough to sit up!

10.September.2013

OH DEER!

My son loves to color…including coloring his walls:)

10.September.2013

OH DEER!

No little ones yet, but I did lose an ottoman to my dog’s teeth a few years ago!

10.September.2013

“OH DEER!”

My son has scratched up the wall behind his changing table by kicking the cute basket I hung to hold his cloth diapers…maybe not such a cute idea…

10.September.2013

I remember when one of the neighbor kids used a tree branch to scratch his name (large letters) on the side of our new car. Hard to forget since I saw it every time I got into the car!

10.September.2013

OH DEER! Love this. Thanks!

10.September.2013

“OH DEER!”
No children at home – but i definitely find myself running around to put up small objects with the little cousins come over!

10.September.2013

OH DEER!

I don’t have any little ones either but we’ve had a few dog casualties. Like sprinkler heads, window frames, typical…

10.September.2013

OH DEER!
I can’t remember any destruction of our home, just broken bones here too, sorry. Oh and sticking food up the nose.

10.September.2013

Oh deer!!

My son, at the age of 10 months, managed to repeatedly rip the wainscoting off the wall that was by his crib. By the 4th round of repairs, we threw our hands up in the air and let it be broken. He’s now 2 1/2 and it’s still not fixed!

10.September.2013

OH DEER!

I’ve been admiring WFT for so long! So many fun things to do with them, especially in kiddo rooms!

10.September.2013

OH DEER!
Ummm… it’s hard to narrow down one thing my boys haven’t destroyed.

10.September.2013

OH DEER!

We are living out of a hotel right now (long story; fire, insurance issues…) and our two kids have made a huge mess of the couch. We don’t have a table or anything, so our meals are eaten sitting on the couch, and we try to keep things clean by laying towels down, but there have been many stray strawberries and pad Thai noodles.

10.September.2013

OH DEER!.. Loving the glittery antlers!

10.September.2013

Oh deer!

I think I’ve probably wrecked more things of my kids (during DIY projects) than they have! I’ve knocked several lamps and knick knacks whilst painting or moving furniture. Our puppy gnawed the fringe off one of our rugs, but that’s the worst I can think of!

10.September.2013

OH DEER!

About a year ago, we wandered downstairs still groggy to find our not quite 2 yr old rounding the corner with a black sharpie in his hands (also realizing he could now get out of his crib). He was sporting a full on “Groucho ‘stache” and had doodled beautifully all over his body, the white built in and the living room sectional. I would like to take a moment to thank pinterest and all of it’s lovely ideas for getting sharpie off of fabric, wood and flesh…… :)

10.September.2013

Oh Deer!

This is so cute! I’ve wanted one of these for a long time!

10.September.2013

OH DEER!

I need this in my bedroom. Or my bathroom. Or my living room. Everywhere!

10.September.2013

OH DEER! My 16 month son loves to color on our wood floors with crayons. It’s only a matter of time until he finds the walls!

10.September.2013

OH DEER! I have a dog that tried really hard to destroy a rug…

10.September.2013

OH DEER! My three year old daughter is currently fascinated by my make-up, which I recently discovered when I found a trail of hand-print-lip-gloss from the master bathroom down the hall to the living room. Thank goodness for baby wipes. They clean EVERYTHING.

10.September.2013

OH DEER!
No kiddos yet, but we have lost everything from sofas to mini blinds to our sweet dog. Our nephew hasn’t left his mark on our house yet, but I know it is only a matter of time!

10.September.2013

Oh Deer!

My kids have ruined a lot of things in my house :( but probably the most forgivable was when my 3 year old, Everett :) and I were doing ‘connect the dots’ and mazes for the first time ever…it kept him entertained for a solid 30 minutes….I was so proud. Well, the next day, I caught him “connecting the dots” with a black sharpie on one of my ivory beaded accent pillows. There is an instagram pic to prove it ;)

10.September.2013

OH DEER! This is too cute!

10.September.2013

OH DEER!
I’ve been toying with the idea of getting one of these anyway.

10.September.2013

Oh DEER! I’m almost embarrassed to say this but…when my son was 2 he took all of the stuffing out of one of my couch pillows and packed it all in his, (thankfully DRY), diaper. He was so proud of himself!

10.September.2013

OH DEER!

My Son is pretty darn distructive. But the most memerable thing he did was on my sun room/enclosed porch. I had just scored a mint condition green and yellow striped sofa(it sounds bad but it was actually pretty)for $40 and put it in my sunroom with some pretty reed blinds and linen curtians with a yellow and green hydrangia pattern on them. It was a beautiful relaxing “mom” zone. I don’t even think I had it done longer then 1 week when my son climbed up and got a can of red spray paint. He went to town on the sofa, wall art, curtains and vintage marble coffee table. I was mad but then he said “I just wanted to clean for you Mommy.” He was 3 years old and apparently thought the red paint was fabreez.

10.September.2013

OH DEER!

I don’t have any munchkins, but we have had one tinkle on our couch! She was watching a movie on the iPad and it was just so darn enthralling she couldn’t stop. Her parents were so embarrassed, but we figure we’ll have kids of our own soon enough and the couch will get even more assaulted – or worse, our kids will do it on someone else’s couch :|

10.September.2013

Oh deer!

My 3 year old has ruined many a things in his short time here, undoubtly there will be many more mishaps! But the one incident that stands out is I had just come home from Home Goods with a pretty ceramic garden stool. I had seen them all over Pinterest, etc. and I was in love. I literally had just set it down, thought “that’s the perfect spot” turned around and he had climbed up on it, it fell over, rolled out my back door, fell down some cement stairs and shattered into hundreds of pieces. It was a sad day! My little one felt so bad I couldn’t help but laugh!

10.September.2013

Oh deer! no little ones …. but my dog ate my couch!

10.September.2013

OH DEER!!!

We don’t have kids yet, but we do have a dog that thinks lipstick is the greatest thing since sliced meat. Thank goodness for a bissell and elbow grease!

10.September.2013

OH DEER!

No litte ones yet, but my dog hauled a chicken carcass from the garbage to our new rug and shredded it to pieces. That was fun.

10.September.2013

OH DEER!!! Love this company and it’s witty acronym!

10.September.2013

OH DEER!

My 9-month-old is a tornado of destruction. He has successfully pulled nearly all of our curtains from their rod clips, removed no less than five cabinet knobs (with his teeth!) from our bedroom furniture, knocked over two floor vases, ripped covers and pages from decorative books on the coffee table, torn the petals from any floral arrangement he can get his grubby little hands on, and puked all over every piece of upholstered furniture in the house, and I swear he does it on purpose. It’s a good thing he’s cute!

10.September.2013

OH DEER!
Can you source the curtains??

10.September.2013

OH DEER!

Absolutely love this :)

10.September.2013

OH DEER! I LOVE this look! Perfect mix of feminine and masculine!

10.September.2013

OH DEER! Too cute!

10.September.2013

OH DEER!!!! I must own a Templeton!

10.September.2013

OH DEER!
My little guy pushed over the glass top on my vintage wheat sheaf side table-I had planned to put it away ’til he was older but he got ahold of it and it broke! Lesson learned I guess!

10.September.2013

Oh DEER!
So cute. No kids so my stuff stays neat :)

10.September.2013

Oh Deer! Hope your family is feeling better.

10.September.2013

Oh deer!
When my daughter was three, and we moved into a new apartment, she took a big black permanent marker and colored all over the brand new rug and freshly painted wall! :-/

10.September.2013

OH DEER! I’ve been wanting one of these for way to long!

10.September.2013

OH DEER!! This little guy would be so cute hanging in my living room if he likes French Country Décor. Love your little girls room it’s gorgeous! Perfect place for the deer love how he fits right in.

10.September.2013

Oh deer! My sister used to write her name on walls, stairs, etc…and then blame it on me or our brother. She also used to shove items in the VCR – think cheese slices and crayons, and she had a thing for flushing items down the toilet – think barbie dolls…my Dad had to replace 3 of them! She eventually grew out of this stage:) She has no children yet, but it’s not far off…I wonder if they’ll take after her;)

10.September.2013

OH DEER!!!!!! Love the deer!

10.September.2013

OH DEER!

Our little guy is only 7 months old, so no damage yet! But our 120lb golden retriever has done enough damage for the both of them! The dog has eaten socks, undies, soft baby toys, etc!

10.September.2013

OH DEER!

I have just the place for it!

10.September.2013

OH DEER!

No kids yet, but our dog has definitely assaulted his fair share. Our new grass landscaping takes a beating daily!

10.September.2013

OH DEER!

No kids yet, but my dog has destroyed many of my DIY throw pillows.

10.September.2013

OH DEER! I am obsessed with this look…last Christmas I snagged up a white deer head from the clearance aisle in Target but it doesn’t hang on the wall & I’ve been wanting one so bad! Every picture of your home looks amazing!
Oh my daughter smeared poo on my new living room rug but thankfully it came up quickly & easily.

10.September.2013

OH DEER!
This would be perfect for my boys who want a deer “just like Daddy’s”. Faux is for me!
My hubby installed white bamboo floors throughout our house a little over a year ago. Not even a week after he finished, my then 2 year old took a blue sharpie to the hallway! We tried everything but ended up having to lightly sand it off!
Glad Everett is feeling a little better :)

10.September.2013

OH DEER!
I don’t have any kids, but I have a two dogs that have probably destroyed just as much as children would. The latest is our cute little hound puppy has started going after the corners of our area rugs. We lost a stack of wooden coasters to the dog as well.

10.September.2013

Oh Deer!
I would love one of these for my baby boy’s nursery!

10.September.2013

OH DEER!

Love me some faux taxidermy friends.

10.September.2013

Oh deer!

Thank you for hosting this giveaway! My oldest son loves to help me clean, and one time he was helping me spray down and wipe-up the kitchen, got a little spray-happy and sprayed a piece of original art hung on the wall!! I’m SO glad it was Mrs Meyers, and didn’t damage the piece! He did break a crystalline pottery vase though :)

10.September.2013

Oh deer!

Out kiddo found my nail polish went under my brand new expensive chair and got most of the polish on the new carpet :-( good memory tho!!

10.September.2013

oh deer! so cute!

10.September.2013

Curtains are West Elm a few years back.

10.September.2013

OH DEER! — The spilled milk, crayon marks and toys shoved into the wall at full speed give me busy with touch ups around here!

10.September.2013

Oh Deer!
When my first daughter was littler, probably about 2-2 1/2 (she’s 5 now) I did NOT leave crayons out for her to use at any time, I did NOT even let her have markers so imagine my surprise to come into the living room after changing her baby sister’s diaper to find new red and blue “art” on my grey wall! Turns out the paint on her wood blocks (red and blue) could rub off on the wall, which she figured out accidently, and then decided it was a lot of fun! Magic Erasers got the blue and red off, but also took the grey with it, oops!

10.September.2013

OH DEER!! I’ve been eyeing one of these for months…:)

10.September.2013

OH DEER!

Templeton is wonderful and I’d love to adorn his antlers!

10.September.2013

OH DEER! I have 3 boys, things get wrecked daily.

10.September.2013

OH DEER! My son Charlie was ‘drawing’ with a stick on the side of our house. I thought it was just dirt but it is a bit scratched. Luckily not too bad.

10.September.2013

OH DEER! A few years ago, we asked my 16-year-old stepson to put away the paint supplies we had just used to repaint his room. We reminded him to be sure the lids were on tight and to be careful, to move slowly — that kid was always running everywhere! And sure enough, he just had to jump down the last few steps of the stairway — yep, he dropped the can of white ceiling paint, the lid came off and we had white paint all over our beautiful wood floors — right inside the front door! Even though we cleaned it up right away, I can still see where the largest puddle of paint was. One day we’ll get our floors refinished but in the meantime, we have that faint reminder of Thomas’ need for speed.

10.September.2013

OH DEER!!!

Love her room!!

10.September.2013

Oh Deer! We have no little ones yet so nothing able to be assaulted.

10.September.2013

Oh deer! i’ve always thought all white taxidermy was pretty classy!

10.September.2013

OH DEER! Would be great in my daughter’s room!

10.September.2013

OH DEER!
No kids yet, just kitties. All of my bed sheets have holes because one of them thinks that making the bed is a game called “attack the sheets”. Luckily she’s cute so it’s easy to forgive

10.September.2013

“OH DEER!”

We would give him a good home ;)

10.September.2013

“OH DEER!” i heart templeton!

10.September.2013

OH DEER! I think my house *needs* some white faux taxidermy! As for children and decor … between chalk outside on the driveway and inside on the chalk paint wall … my daughter doesn’t seem to understand where chalk can and can’t go. So it is everywhere. :oP

10.September.2013

OH DEER! I’ve always wanted a faux deerhead!

10.September.2013

Coffee table meets Sharpie, OH DEER!!

I graduated from the best school EVER… Howard University and our mascot is the Bison. When I saw the white one with gold horns… I instantly knew that one was mine!! And the deer I know exactly where it can go. Your blog has given so much inspiration!! I need to go to sleep, but I can’t stop browsing the blog!!

10.September.2013

OH DEER! That is totally gorgeous! And it would completely amuse my doggies.

10.September.2013

OH DEER!!! White kitchen cabinets? uh not in my house! They are just finger paint canvases that have cups and pots behind them…..

10.September.2013

Oh DEER!!! I need to have this:)

11.September.2013

OH DEER!

My furbaby chewed the baseboards in our brand-new, just-built house shortly after we moved in. My human baby is too small to have destroyed anything…yet. However, my babies have made me care less about things and more about people; stuff is always replaceable!

11.September.2013

OH DEER! I love your creativeness with the fabric chandy. Looks great there!

11.September.2013

Oh deer! I want that deer all to myself!!

11.September.2013

OH DEER! My little guy is still pretty small, but getting into everything! I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before something gets dropped into a toilet :)

11.September.2013

11.September.2013

OH DEER!

My oldest {of three} dented my new stainless steel LG fridge by throwing a duplo. Really! A. Duplo. This was the first day it came home, BTW. Small dent, great kid.

11.September.2013

“OH DEER!”

I love your Blog!!!!

11.September.2013

Oh Deer!

Nothing serious kid wise with our son and the house. But at my parent’s house, my little brother was writing with paper and pencil and managed to push hard enough to carve his name in the wooden front window sill. Somehow we managed to keep that hidden from our dad for a good ten years at least!

11.September.2013

OH DEER!

Love your site, your style is sooo good!

11.September.2013

OH DEER!

My kids have DESTROYED our {brand new as in 2 months old} house. We have 3 littles between the ages of 6 & 2. My carpets have been peed on, a headboard has been carved in, the walls have paint chips and furniture rubs, the chair in the basement family room/play space has a broken leg, the cushion on the leather couch has a tear and is scratched, somehow there is toothpaste on every surface in their bathroom, I could go on. Even with all of this, I still love them like crazy! And I would really enjoy a a mini templeton!

11.September.2013

OH DEER!

This has been on my list of things to buy to add to my sons’ room. So fun!
I love your blog!!

11.September.2013

OH DEER!

No kids yet, but looking forward to them someday.

11.September.2013

Oh Deer!
My first is only 4 months right now so no curious toddler mishaps but I’m sure I will have quite a few in store for me!!

11.September.2013

OH DEER! What an adorable room – and I love that your garland has somewhere to hang! Great faux taxidermy – much more friendly than the real thing.
xo,
Shannon

11.September.2013

“OH DEER!”

Yes please!!

11.September.2013

Oh Deer!!

I have wanted one of these for a while now! So glad to have seen this post :)

11.September.2013

OH DEER! I adore the mini templeton and have just the right space for it!

11.September.2013

OH DEER! Thanks for a great giveaway!! Love them!

11.September.2013

OH DEER!

No kiddos for us yet, but we do have a fur baby. Luckily he hasn’t really taken to destroying anything in the house, but he sure loves to lay everywhere…including our console tables and buffets. :)

11.September.2013

OH DEER!

Our casualty was the faux rhino head that I built for my son’s room… Only the casualty was my son, and not the rhino. After a trip to the ER from a forehead-bound rhino, I made sure that sucker was screwed into studs. I totally get the mommy guilt!

11.September.2013

Oh Deer! Drinkable yogurts have been spilled on every surface of the house!

11.September.2013

Oh Deer!

This would be a great addition to our first home purchased in June. We don’t have small kids anymore so my industrial modern dream home is finally coming together complete with a re purposed zinc coffee table made from the pipes of an old building! – a deer head goes with industrial modern, right?

11.September.2013

Oh deer!! I love the wall color in Mabrey’s room, by the way. :)

11.September.2013

OH DEER! I can see this in my craft area now. Love it!

11.September.2013

OH DEER! When we moved into our first house, we saved & saved for our first piece of “grown-up” furniture – a large couch. Within 2 weeks of it arriving, my then 2-year old got ahold of a green Sharpie marker and decided to decorate it. The cleaners did a wonderful job getting the stain out, but we’ve had a marker moratorium in our house ever since!!

11.September.2013

OH DEER! This would look PERFECT in my bedroom!!

11.September.2013

Oh Deer!

No kids to mess up my house yet, just a boyfriend who is excellent at doing that himself…

11.September.2013

OH DEER!

I don’t have children, but I do have a very rambunctious cat and a very sneaky dog that make a mischief-team unlike any other. Last week I came home to find that my cat had retrieved used coffee k-cups out of the trash, then allowed my dog to take over and chew them to pieces. Coffee grounds = white couch, beige carpet. I almost typed carpet as “crapet”, which was probably more appropriate after this event. :)

11.September.2013

OH DEER!

I’ve been lucky so far, my almost 2 year old is a dream so far…, quick…, knock on wood!

11.September.2013

OH DEER! This is a must have for my evolving rustic/chic dining room!

11.September.2013

Oh deer.

Love their stuff!

11.September.2013

OH DEER! When my daughter was younger she brought out her inner artist with markers…on our white couch. Most of it came out thankfully!

11.September.2013

OH DEER! I love the Mini Templeton. What a generous giveaway!

11.September.2013

Oh Deer!
My toddler hasn’t destroyed anything major in my house, but scribbled on my car with a rock!!

11.September.2013

OH DEER!

Get in my dining room!

11.September.2013

Oh deer!

No kids yet… I think the movie Alien has scarred my mind and I can’t seem to get past it!

11.September.2013

Oh deer! Potty training…need I say more? :)

11.September.2013

Oh Deer!!!!
This would look great in my little boys room

11.September.2013

OH DEER!
Love this!!! :)

11.September.2013

OH DEER! Would love this for my son’s nursery! <3

11.September.2013

OH DEER! My son loves to play with water whenever we are not watching. Lets just say we get more water spills than we’d like to.

11.September.2013

OH DEER! We are expecting our first, and I cannot even begin to think about all the stuff in our house that is just waiting for our future baby to get into!

11.September.2013

OH DEER!!!

No kiddos for me yet, but as the youngest of two older brothers, I destroyed plenty of their toys when I was younger…and vice versa!

11.September.2013

OH DEER! My 15 month-old got grape jelly on our less-than-a-year-old sofa. Luckily it came out with soap, water, and a little elbow grease :)

11.September.2013

OH DEER! I don’t have any children but my inner child needs this!

11.September.2013

OH DEER!!

I’d love that piece to hang my jewelry!!

11.September.2013

OH DEER!

I just love WFT!!! This would go so well in my gallery wall in my living room! Thanks!!

11.September.2013

OH DEER! No kids, hopefully soon, and they can make all the messes they want. I will just be so happy to be a mom!

11.September.2013

OH DEER!

I don’t have a child, so my little person is my puppy, Henry, and there are more things he has destroyed than things he has left alone :)

11.September.2013

OH DEER! Ooh!!! I hope I win! I love templeton! :)

Goodness! Children & design?! We’ve had our fair share of mishaps with 4 kids under 7! Lets see, crayon everywhere, pink permanent marker all over white antique bed, several broken glass tchotchkes just to name the most recent!

11.September.2013

OH DEER!

I have no kids, but I have two dogs and they are sort-of like my kids. They tend to make a lot of mess on the floor. Hah! But I still love them to pieces! :)

11.September.2013

OH DEER!

No kids yet, but we did get a kitten earlier this year and he gets into everything. The worst of it has been chewed cords, but he also destroys any TP if we don’t store it in the cabinet.

11.September.2013

OH DEER!

My boys have somehow managed to dislodge an iron pipe granite counter support in my kitchen by using it as a jungle gym/fire pole!

11.September.2013

Oh Deer!!!! Love your blog! ❤

11.September.2013

OH DEER!

I’m loving this little guy so much!

11.September.2013

OH DEER!

my daughter has a vintage metal stroller that she uses to carry her dolls. it’s completely unsafe with two screws sticking out the far end, but she loves it and remains unscathed. unfortunately, the same can not be said for our walls. the bottom 2 feet of our walls are all banged up from her erratic steering. i find this adorable. my husband, who does all the drywalling, painting, etc. finds it annoying.

11.September.2013

OH DEER!!! We’ve had many kid-made disasters, some I’ve ended up loving & some that of course drive me crazy! Most of them, I’ve realized have to do with areas of trim work around our past and current houses. In our last house our son (2 & 3 years old at the time) loved to play with his Matchbox cars on the low window sill of a window in our living room. By the time we moved that sill was dented and scratched like crazy! And I wanted to take it with us, but couldn’t–I did take a picture of it though. Other battle scars that I secretly love are the marks on our door trim where the kids’ bikes repeatedly hit and gouged out paint chips and wood. Yes, we let our kids ride their bikes inside! They had just gotten bikes for Christmas and it was cold and we had a teeny tiny premie baby so outside was not an option. They rode them indoors for about 4 months which created tons of scars on our door trim! Finally, the marks that drive me crazy are where our daughters have peeled to paint off of our black dining room chairs! UGH! I could cry when I see it! :)

11.September.2013

Oh Deer!
My daughter is only 5 months so she hasn’t broken anything yet! She would love thus deer in her room though.

11.September.2013

OH DEER! I’m totally just now getting into faux taxidermy so I’m kinda late jumping on the train. I love this though. We have had many o walls fall victim to the old “mama im creating art” scenario! Thanks for hosting Dana and I’m glad to hear Everett is doing much better.

11.September.2013

OH DEER

liked on facebook. had bookmarked this store on etsy awhile ago, thanks for the reminder. absolutely perfect for my daughter’s bedroom

11.September.2013

OH DEER! I want to win this!

11.September.2013

OH DEER! Love, love, love

11.September.2013

OH DEER!

my red hallway desperately needs repainting because of little dinks and chips from my 2 guys running a muck! :)

11.September.2013

OH DEER! We just moved. When we move, my husband & I go around & put post-its up to label where everything will go. This makes it handy for when the movers want to know where to place stuff, and for when we want to find something in the kitchen without opening all the drawers/cabinets first. Well, our 1 year old thought these post-ts are amazing, and easy to pull off & bring to Mommy. Now we don’t know where anything is in the kitchen, but can remember how to find the couch :)

11.September.2013

OH DEER!

My littles will NOT leave the curtains in our house alone. They love to wrap up in them, so it pretty much looks like a disaster in every room. We have now put extra anchors in all of the brackets after the rods were pulled down mid wrap.

11.September.2013

Oh Deer!
No so much a physical assault, but rather an aestetic one. In the spirit of preventing injury of my furnishing and my special guy, I decided to remove the two bottom glass shelves from my two side-by-side CB2 Tesso bookcases. My 15mo loves to bang and drum on anything; he also seems to run into everything and those corners on the glass shelves could do a number on little heads/eyes/ etc. It looks a little empty there but why run the risk–not to mention, I minimize daily clean up because you know however i styled the lower, within-reach shelves, toddler-friendly or not, it all would end up on the floor, in a basket or drawer somewhere; anywhere but on the shelves at the end of the day. Such is life, and well worth it!

11.September.2013

Oh Deer!
Oh toddlerhood…. Why do you slap me in the face every day?! My wonderful daughter is 22 months old and we just closed on our first home last week!!! During the chaos of settling in, I was not giving her my full attention. She decided that she would use her teeth to naw/scrape the finish off a table leg. And I KNOW this is just the beginning…

11.September.2013

Oh deer! My daughter smeared lipstick in the carpet this afternoon. I was mad, but mostly about the ruined lipstick as that carpet is awful anyway….

11.September.2013

Oh Deer!! I would love one for my home!

11.September.2013

OH DEER! My son is only two months old, so I’m assuming most of his destruction is in the future. So far, we’re doing ok :)

11.September.2013

OH DEER!! =)
I distress every piece of furniture I paint because I know my kids will scratch it and ding it up.. I just want to beat my kids to it!

11.September.2013

OH DEER!
Need this bad! I’m right in the middle of a project that it would be perfect for!
My kids are actually pretty good. My husband is much worse. I’ll never let him forget the kitchen table he decided to make boy scout derby cars on. Cuts and chips everywhere sigh…

12.September.2013

OH DEER!

what a lovely faux animal head.

12.September.2013

OH DEER! There are no littles in my house, but there is one large, excitable black lab. He’s taken out a few vases, spilled wine, and almost lit his tail on fire (candles + violent wagging). Luckily it’s been no permanent damage. I have a great spot above our bed for Mini Templeton!

12.September.2013

OH DEER! This would go perfect in our nursery. I made a diy one out of cardboard, but this would be even better!

12.September.2013

OH DEER! I don’t know about kids, but anything at about hip level down has to be ready for curious dog paws to sift through.

12.September.2013

OH DEER! My twins love to get into everything, so we’re in a several year phase of empty shelves on the bottom of our bookcases. It saves us time and stress, but looks pretty ridiculous.

12.September.2013

OH DEER! The deer is so funny. If I were you I would ask my child to paint it. I think it would be a funny and a very creative task. I think that the child will be very happy to contribute something to the décor of his own room.

12.September.2013

OH DEER!
Just painted a chalkboard wall this summer. (I know, five years behind on the trend.)
The deer would be a great addition to the dark wall.
Fingers crossed!

12.September.2013

Oh Deer!

No kids yet, but I’d love this little deer for the nursery we are working on for our hopefully soon to be adopted kid(s)!
I do have a couple of rambunctious dachshunds though – one of them even ate the corner off the bookcase in our living room when she thought her ball was stuck underneath (it wasn’t!).

OH DEER!

Just yesterday actually, my 3 year old daughter drew with crayon all over her white bedroom furniture during naptime. She was very proud and told me “Look Mommy, I made artwork on my bed!!” Fortunately it all came off pretty easily.

12.September.2013

Oh DEER! :) Would love this for my little one’s room. So perfect!

12.September.2013

Oh deer!
I have 10 spots in my house for this little guy!

12.September.2013

OH DEER… What hasn’t been assaulted?! My whole house has been abused my the little ones. I’d have to say the worst of it is the carpets (which i didn’t want anyways). We’ve been in our house 6 years (it was brand new- we’re the only owners)and they look like they’ve been through a war zone. It doesn’t help that 2 days after we moved in our oldest came down with the stomach bug and let the carpet have it. It all went down hill from there.

Oh Deer!

I realized last night I haven’t done a thing really to my bedroom since I moved in a year ago. Time to put something on the walls. This would be the perfect start. :)

12.September.2013

OH DEER!

I babysat my cousins and they wanted to brush my hair- which meant smacking my head with the brush before every stroke. I was bruised for a week!

12.September.2013

OH DEER!! Thanks for the chance to win! I have lots of places this would work well!

12.September.2013

OH DEER!

So far my kiddo has kept messes to mostly water- and puree food-based, but seeing as she’s only seven months old, I know we’ve got some doozies ahead of us!

12.September.2013

OH DEER! Just after we moved into our home my son traced his “A, B, C” homework with a Sharpie. Needless to say, I had the alphabet on our three day old breakfast table!

12.September.2013

OH DEER!

I LOVE those curtains and the bamboo blinds! They would look so great in our room. Thanks for the inspiration! Can’t think of any crazy kid-related horror stories as the moment… ;)

12.September.2013

OH DEER!

My saddest decor related kidtastrophe came when my sons broke my mercury glass candlestick

12.September.2013

OH DEER!

No little kiddos to mess up the house yet… but we’re hoping to change that very soon!

12.September.2013

OH DEER!
Just painted my entryway a very dark gray against all the (unwanted) advice from many. It came out absolutely beautiful. Oh deer this would look great!

12.September.2013

OH DEER! My kids have destroyed our stainless steel fridge as well. And our dining room table. They are 4 and 20 months. I’ve accepted it for now.

12.September.2013

OH DEER!
I’ve been a little obsessed with White Faux Taxidermy lately and this would be a great addition to the guest bedroom in my newly purchased home!

12.September.2013

OH DEER! I’m pregnant with twins right now, so I’m sure I will soon understand what it’s like to watch as decor ad rugs are ruined by little hands :)

13.September.2013

OH DEER! That deer head is just the greatest! I love it!

13.September.2013

OH DEER! I am in love with this giveaway! I have the perfect spot for it in my house. My son is only one, but he has managed to pull down a few pictures that were hanging a little too low on our gallery wall!

13.September.2013

OH DEER!

Markers, crayons, stickers, oh my! All over every fabric storage tote in my three year old’s room! ;)

13.September.2013

OH Deer!!!
My kids love to jump on our sofa. They love to make play forts from the cusions. They love to sneak popcicles and eat them on the sofa. There is blood from boo-boos on the sofa. There is magic marker marks on the sofa. They are Lego mini figs/barrets/coins/ playmobil/ puzzle pieces/ who-knows-what else IN our sofa.
But somehow, through it all, I love that sofa!!!

13.September.2013

OH DEER!
We don’t have kids, but we do have a two year old Catahoula Leopard Dog who, when she was a young pup thought it would be a good idea to chew through the power supply cord to my husband’s precious Bose surround sound system rendering it useless! Thankfully, the cord wasn’t plugged in at the time of said chewing!

13.September.2013

OH DEER! <3<3<3

13.September.2013

Oh Deer! No kids, but, as others mentioned above, we have two dogs that have done their fair share of damage when they were pups.

13.September.2013

OH DEER!
I have been stalking White Faux Taxidermy on pinterest for quite awhile looking for a perfect match for my daughter’s room. This would be much better than some of crazy ideas I have attempted so far. I have a silver plated antelope mount above my mantel but cannot move it to my daughter’s room. This would solve my ‘problem.’
Also I liked WFT on fb. First time entering a contest but long time follower. Fingers crossed.

14.September.2013

OH DEER! Up in the middle of the night after feeding my twin girls and reading your blog of course. :)

OH DEER! We haven’t had a horrible mishap with our kids yet… and I’m okay with that!

15.September.2013

OH DEER! I am from Florida but you wouldn’t know it from the inside of my home. Antique hunting illustrations, a cardboard moose head, and a growing owl collection are just a few of my favorites. This beauty would make a great addition to my other mountain imspired decor.

15.September.2013

Oh Deer. I don’t have little humans; my littles are cats. They like to sharpen claws (read: ruin) on my Crate and Barrel Petrie sofa and any area rug I bring home.

15.September.2013

Oh Deer! Love this!

15.September.2013
