The photo shoot stars aligned yesterday! The final piece for the bathroom arrived. Steve returned from his work trip. He and the boys got out of the house in the afternoon while Mabrey napped. The light was decent. My camera battery was fully charged and the bathroom was clean. You know what that means? Yup, the bathroom reveal is happening this week.

Until then…

*House & Home’s hit list. (That Ikea kitchen! I could totally live in a cube, too.)

*Two real Ikea kitchens.

*Great space planning ideas in a narrow living room with a corner fireplace.

*Love these built-ins with both open and closed storage.

*One neighbor, “Well, I hope he’s going to repaint it after the Super Bowl.” Hehe.

I hope you have a happy, lazy Sunday.

I’d love to hear more about the tidying up book and how realistic it is with three children. It’s a great concept but….really?

I’ve often wandered about you and essential oils. They suit your healthy lifestyle perfectly! I love them:). Can’t wait to see the bathroom!

I’ve been wanting to try them for a while. Last week, I visited a friend who recently started using essential oils and raved about them. I have to give them a try! They seem like a good fit for this pharmacist-turned-housetweaker.

I don’t expect to do everything but any little tips help! Maybe I’ll share what I learned and what I implement. Would that be of interest to you?

I heard about Marie Kondo the other day and spent half the day reading book reviews and watching YouTube videos on folding clothes. I don’t know who I am anymore! Anyway I haven’t read a book that wasn’t a children’s book for 8 years so I don’t expect to actually read it but I’ve tried a few things and love the folding of clothes in a way that they all actually fit in the cupboard and look all neat and tidy but im not sure how long it will last! And essential oils have been pretty great at making stinky cleaning products smell better – have been using them in DIY cleaners and also deodorant!! Made my own deodorant and don’t think I’ll buy it again! Amanda Watters (blog is its the little things) had some great essential oil recipes and uses too. Xxx

You Tube videos on folding clothes? I’m in. I’ll bring the popcorn. Ha! I LOVE Amanda’s blog. She’s adorable. I’m definitely going to be referencing her essential oil recipes.

The real Ikea kitchens are still cute! I’ve had a few friends use them. Moral of the story is get a professional installation :)

Hi Dana, You are one of my 4 daily blog reads. :-) Often I think too of quitting medicine, but am happy currently working only part time. Thank you for your blog. I enjoy every post. :-)
I value your opinion, and I know you are busy so feel free to ignore my question.
We are redoing our huge 1980’s vaulted ceiling master bedroom. I’d like to make it clean, simple and contemporary by building 3 built in dressers/ desk storage. (like this: http://trendenser.se/2014/march/hemnetgodis-med-hotellrumskansla.html or this one: http://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/921683/list/A-Fine-Balance-Makes-the-Space) Am I crazy to consider Ikea kitchen cabinets for the bases?
One wall I may copy your fauxdenza, but use similar ikea drawer faces and cabinet faces with a walnut top. Am I crazy?

You aren’t crazy at all. I absolutely LOVE those ideas! It would be a clean and simple look while providing loads of storage. I say go for it!

04.February.2015

It would be of GREAT interest to me! And, I love your blog!
