“Blu Over You”…I did not stick entirely to all of the age old traditions but I do seem to recall carrying an antique handkerchief with blue embroidery. More sentimental was my great grandmother’s diamond ring pinned inside my dress.

The blue writing had a special sentiment, a special date (ie. The date the bride met the groom) or simply the couple’s names. I thought this was such a clever idea when I learned about it. I wish that I had done it!

When I got married my something blue was a handkerchief tied around my bouquet. It was white with little blue flowers on it and I also carried it when I got initiated into my sorority in college. Such a cute way to integrate that I though. It was adorably tied around my bouquet.

This might be too much but the way my dress was designed was all I actually wore under it was just my blue underwear. My dress had a built in corset and bra so I was actually so comfortable! :) And keep this in mind, this is coming from a girl that doesn’t wear fancy dresses at all.

BLU OVER YOU – I’m not married nor have any soon-around-the-corner-plans to be married but my mum has promised me her charm barcelet that she got when she was born which has a blue dove on it. She has held onto it for nearly 50years so that one day she could give it to me.

For my “Something Blue” I had my mother embroider our wedding date on the inside of my dress with blue thread. Loved it!

I had blue on my bouquet and handkerchief that I held at the base of my bouquet incase I had a meltdown :-) It ended up being my husband that needed the handkerchief..he melts my heart!

My best friend and matron of honor, helped me with my “something blue” for my wedding in June. Because I had a fitted gown, I needed just a little flare at the bottom but couldn’t find a crinoline that didn’t make it super poofy. My extremely talented and beautiful friend came to the rescue! For my bridal shower, she presented me with a handmade crinoline with five layers of varying shades of blue tulle, starting dark at the top and moving to a lighter blue as you went down. She also embroidered in baby blue “bride” on the, ahem, back side of the crinoline. It rained on our wedding day so I have LOTS of pictures of me lifting my dress and my little peep of blue showing underneath. It was perfect and I still love it, to this day!

I honestly cannot remember what I wore that was blue… and I’ve only been married for two years! It’s entirely possible that I decided to forgo that, although I did have old (my mom’s engagement diamond as a solitaire necklace), new (my dress), and borrowed (an old gold purse from my grandmother). Hmm…

BLU OVER YOU! I can’t remeber if I wore any blue on my wedding day. I did have something borrowed and something old. My grandmother gave me a handkerchief of hers to put in my bouquet. I got married on the beach, so maybe the ocean counts. My husband and I have been happily married going on eight years!
