With three kiddos {one of them being a newborn which requires a hefty diaper bag and baby miscellaneous} in tow, I’ve found it difficult to lug around my real camera. Recently, I’ve been opting to leave the camera bag at home and use my iPhone instead. And that’s when I discovered Instagram, a free app that allows you to take pictures on your iPhone, quickly transform their look and feel, then share them. Instagram is not replacing my camera for good but it is a lighter, easier alternative.
I thought sharing weekly snippets of my Instagram pics would be fun. Let’s check out last week.
We finally had our Bagster picked up. No one likes to talk about waste the day after Earth Day but, let’s face it, trash happens. Our Bagster mostly contained scrap flooring pieces, tiling waste {grout, thinset, etc.}, non-recyclable packaging and other items. The cardboard and plastic bags that you see weren’t able to be recycled because we used them for tiling prep {i.e. they had grout and thinset all over one side of them}. We called for pick up on a Thursday and the Bagster was gone by Monday. The Bagster itself was less than $30 and pickup was ~$90. It’s a good option for jobs smaller than dumpster status but larger than our Danger Ranger truck bed.
Raw smoothies are a quick and easy way for me to meet my daily fruit & veggie requirements postpartum. The hardest part is cleaning the blender afterwards. I’ve found several delicious recipes that don’t call for added sugar in the form of yogurt. My boys love them too! After following a few of the recipes to a T, I’ve strayed and started concocting my own raw smoothies successfully. Anyone interested in a smoothie post?
Somebody loves their Miracle Blanket.
I’ve been spending a lot of time at my dad’s lately. My grandma & grandpa are visiting from Florida and staying there. They like to cuddle a certain little lady and I can’t deny them. This shot was taken from my dad’s front porch. Yep. That’s the view from my childhood home. And to think I ever declared living there ‘BORING’?! What I wouldn’t give for a view like that from my own home now.
That’s my grandpa with Mabrey. He would have never guessed he’d make it onto the Internets. Yes, the Internets plural. I blame him for my home lovin’ blood. He’s bought and renovated, oh I don’t know, more than a dozen houses. In fact, he just closed on a fixer-upper in Florida before coming for a visit. And he’s in his late 70’s. Exactly, what I’ll be doing in my late 70’s if I’m in as good as shape as him! His mother {my great grandmother} is Mabrey’s namesake. Her maiden name was Larew, Mabrey’s middle name.
That’s my grandpa’s partner in crime, my grandma, with Mabrey. I blame her for my mad cleaning skills. Although I’m not anywhere near her caliber. That woman can clean a house like nobody’s business. My grandpa messes ’em up and she cleans ’em up! Sound familiar?
Sorry for MIA last week. I was so sleep deprived I don’t think my posts would have been coherent. Handy Hubby is doing his part to control the worldwide population today…the ol’ sniparoo. Like I told HH, I’m really glad we have Layne, Everett & Mabrey but I’m good. Life with three kids is no joke.
Things may be a little slow this week due to techy blog stuff. But it’s all good. Lots of changes coming to House*Tweaking!
