...because home doesn't happen overnight.

cabin getaway

Hey all! We’re back from our mountain getaway and, as I guessed would happen, it’s taking me a bit to adjust to real life. Why can’t Ohio have mountain scenery? HH and I had the absolute best time. Ever. It was so great to devote an entire week to just us. We’re already dreaming of our next kid-free rendezvous. Our first night home with the kids during the bedtime routine, Layne said he was thankful to have a mom and dad who love each other so much. It melted my heart and all feelings of guilt and selfishness about our adult-only vacation were washed away.

In between squeezing my munchkins and unpacking, I’m working on a little vacation post detailing where we stayed, where we played and where we ate. If you’re interested in visiting Bryson City, North Carolina, you won’t want to miss it.

In the meantime, check out my recent Wayfair article. It’s wedding season and I like to think outside the registry when shopping for the happy couple.

Find your Summer Done Bright winner here. And P.S. today is the first day of no more Google Reader. I’ve heard good stuff about Feedly if you’re looking for a new way to view your favorite RSS feeds.

Welcome Back! I just wanted to chime in and say that I really do love Feedly so far, if anyone is looking for a substitute to Google Reader. Also, for easy blog commenting on an iPhone, I love the Newsify App.

My family and I are actually headed to Bryson City later this month for the first time! Looking forward to hearing your recommendations :)

Yes, Feedly is the best! Their iPhone app is kick-@$$, too!

I’m so glad you and HH had a a great adult-only vacation. I don’t think I’m quite ready to leave my little guy (11 months), but I bet I will be before too long. Do you have any tips for how to make time apart as painless as possible, both for parents and kids?

My husband and I stayed near Bryson City with his family a couple years ago. I saw your picture at the NOC on Instagram- we rafted there! It’s a great place isn’t it? I’m glad you guys were able to get away. I think I’d have to fight the guilt, too, but I know it’s so so important. I miss time one on one with my husband, but I might have to wait until our seven month old gets a little older first!

I love the area and will definitely keep it on my list of future getaways with my hubby! And thanks for the link to your Wayfair article. We are celebrating our 4th anniversary next week and after telling my husband about your anniversary journal idea, we decided to adopt it. We found some fabulous journals yesterday and we’re going to make this a new tradition for the two of us. Thanks for the great idea!!

Can you provide links to the rental company for the cabin? This looks amazing.
