Your house is beautiful! How do you manage to keep everything so white and clean with the two littles ones? My two year old is constantly making a mess of things.
I found your blog through the Blogging Your Way class, maybe we will see each other there.

Amy :)

Amy – Oh, pictures can be deceiving! Trust me, there are usually crumbs and toys everywhere. At first, I was leery of all the white but it’s what I like so I took the plunge. And, in fact, it’s pretty easy to keep looking clean. Even when it isn’t ‘clean’, somehow the lightness of it tricks your eye into seeing it as clean. And as far as clutter goes, I just try to pick up a little every day.

It is beautiful! I love the mini mud room!

Your home is beautiful! Do you have room for one more?! I love every aspect of your home, you and your husband make a great team!

You are an incredibly talented designer- love your simple, chic style!! I was inspired by your photos and with some help from H*T, am now ready for my own mini-makeover. Thanks, Dana!!

Just discovered your blog from YHL. Love it, I’m from the midwest too! First Eastern Iowa and now Omaha.

8 housetweaking October 14, 2010 at 10:22 PM

Jules – Welcome, fellow midwesterner!

9 Allison @ House of Hepworths October 22, 2010 at 2:36 PM

I love your home. I wish I had the exact same floor plan so I could copy it exactly to a T! I’m definitely going to take inspiration from it though.

Allison – Aw, thank ya. I’ve been snooping around over on your blog (awesome, btw) and noticed you have an open floor plan like many of the newer homes today…including mine. I’ve got a post up my sleeve that addresses working with an open floor plan. Maybe it will give you some more inspiration. Keep reading…

I just found your blog while searching for an Ikea picture hanging template. I LOVE your house and sense of creative style!!!

12 Jen @ The Decor Scene October 27, 2010 at 12:26 PM

I just discovered your blog from YHL. Your home is GORGEOUS!!!!!! Love all the projects you have done. Can’t wait to see your open floor plan post. I’ll be watching out for that one. We have a Great Room that I would love to tweak more. You are so right when you said that “a room is never really finished, we are always tweaking it”. I love it but my hubby not so much. LOL! But he loves what I do in our home, so that is all that counts. ;-)

13 housetweaking October 27, 2010 at 12:42 PM

Jen – Open floor plans can be tricky but keeping a few key points in mind helps. Key points coming soon!

14 Sumreen Safdar October 28, 2010 at 5:58 AM

Dear Dana,

Love your house, I am really inspired by how you have managed to do so alot, such as giving away brilliant ideas, decorating the house and much more. I myself is a fanatic about interior decor, love to play with colors, but have been thinking of how I can do something about it, to work around. I dont have a degree in interiors thus I cant really join a firm or so to pursue my career.

I hope you can help me figure out something..

I am truly amazed by your work.

Sumree.

Is the paint color pretty much the same throughout the house? I especially like your bedroom color and the color where the “skys are grey”. Can you share what it is? LOVE everything. I wish you lived next door. :)

16 housetweaking November 30, 2010 at 10:53 PM

Jane – The main wall color throughout our home is Valspar {Lowe’s} Bonsai. HOWEVER, the wall with the “skies are gray” wall hanging is American Traditions {Lowe’s} Dry Riverbed…a muddier gray. The wall behind the bed in our master bedroom is Sherwin Williams’ Suitable Brown. Hope that’s what you were looking for!

Congrats on your apartment therapy feature! I was so excited to see a fellow Cincinnati DIY decorator on their site. Your place looks great!! Very inspiring.

Amanda – Thanks and welcome!

19 Tara Morse December 17, 2010 at 9:41 PM

Dana I just love your house. With a one year old daughter and three year old son my house is always a disaster but reading your blog has given me lots of cheap creative ideas to enjoy my surroundings. I am now a bargin shopper. I am following your blog from Australia and loving it!!

20 housetweaking December 17, 2010 at 9:45 PM

Tara – Hi from all the way around the world! One of my favorite things about this blog is virtually meeting people from places I’ve never been {i.e. Australia}. I’ve always loved Australian design. Thanks for reading!

27 Joe January 25, 2011 at 9:18 PM

Not to sound like a perv, but how about your bedroom? I was looking forward to hearing about the headboard in your profile pic.

28 housetweaking January 25, 2011 at 11:17 PM

Joe – There you go, Joe! I added my in-progress bedroom, just for you. I’ll be sure to link to a full room tour when it’s done…whenever that is.

29 Joe January 26, 2011 at 3:49 PM

Thanks! I found your blog after a Google search for SW Ryegrass, I was looking for some examples. We bit the bullet and painted the entire family room with it! I gotta say I don’t think you gave it a fair shake. I had the same initial reaction to it that you did, but it is growing on me.

30 jenn January 27, 2011 at 10:03 PM

I love your headboard, did you make it?

31 housetweaking January 27, 2011 at 10:33 PM

Jenn – Yup, here’s how…

I really love the colors you chose for each room in your house. I can tell you have a natural eye for design and your creations are fun but still practical. So glad I found your blog!

34 Megan February 8, 2011 at 10:49 AM

Dana,
Is there somewhere on your blog where you explained how to make your headboard????

THANK YOU!

35 housetweaking February 8, 2011 at 11:32 AM

Megan – Made it here and hung it here. Have fun!

36 Kathryn February 9, 2011 at 7:44 PM

Great blog – lots of wonderful ideas. Love that headboard too – maybe I can convince my husband… :)

37 Judy February 9, 2011 at 8:23 PM

Love your house, can you share the paint colours that you have in your Sun room and in your master bedroom. I’ve been looking for some Grey hues and these are really pretty.
Great inspiring blog. : ) Thank you.

38 housetweaking February 9, 2011 at 10:14 PM

Judy – Paint colors post here…

http://www.housetweaking.com/2010/09/14/you-asked-for-it-paint-colors/

The master bedroom accent wall {behind the bed} is SW’s Suitable Brown.

39 Judy February 10, 2011 at 10:14 AM

thank you Dana. : )

40 Katherine February 13, 2011 at 4:40 PM

I’m not sure how I stumbled onto your site, but I love what I see! I love a white, clean palette that still looks liveable. As a fellow mother of little ones, that is very inspiring.

41 LISA February 13, 2011 at 9:44 PM

I love your house. I am dying to paint my builder grade new cabients white. We have the weird curve in the door design. Do you think that would look OK with the ikea handles?

42 housetweaking February 14, 2011 at 1:04 AM

Lisa – Personally, I like to mix traditional {curved recessed panels} with modern {IKEA hardware}. Maybe buy a few different styles and hold them up to see how you feel. Then return the ones you don’t want.

43 Shelly February 14, 2011 at 2:07 PM

First time here…love the headboard so much I may have to make one…beautiful home! Thanks for the inspiration I am headed to search for wood right after work!!!
